Number 10 was THE priority. I honestly believe we could have tottered on without Del, Lennon, Cleverly, etc if we had kept Stones and made sure we bought a creative midfielder who could play just off the striker and open up a defense with a pass. We have deepened our squad from last year in a couple of areas and added a bit of attacking intent on the wing ala Del, but we have also more or less lost Pienaar and Osman. Really hope we can return to the form of Bobby's first season, but won't be surprised if it ends up a lot more like last season.

How much would you want for Ross? Then bear in mind that any incoming number 10 would be a waste of time and money if they weren't a better player than Ross.

Totally disagree. I remember us having to sell Jeffers, Ball.... Having to sell Rooney to 'save the club'.... Selling Lescott.... Selling Arteta because the banks needed the money...

The fact we didn't sell people & did keep our best players is a sea change from the norm.

What would you rather us do - sell Stones, McCarthy & Mirallas to finance a spending spree on 'glamorous' unproven signings?

Fact is, we spent over £20m on 5 new players. We spent money AND signed players.

Except it sort of does. I get your point that it shouldn't have a large effect on judging a window by if Kev and McCarthy left, yeah we would've got some money but had to go out and find quality replacements that would cost more than they did themselves

I don't think Ross has been all that good as a number ten tbh. He may have a future in centre midfield. I don't see him long term behind a striker.
 
Decent squad players brought in, no one left, new contracts signed for important players. So I voted a 6 overall.

The thing we were missing was a real household name signing in that "number 10".

Also I would have preferred a defender with premierleague experience, rather than Mori and Holgate. Though it's gonna be hard to attract those type of players, when they will probably only play if stones or jags are out
