Top six seems to be the new 'top 4' now - the slots that the cash rich clubs should get. He'd be forgiven for falling just short of that. You make a great point earlier though with regard to the failings of some teams in that elite, so I suppose a logical argument could be made to say top 7/8 is not good enough. Personally, I think that's exactly where we'll finish (those two slots 7th/8th) and most will accept it....certainly his employers will.

Anywhere from 4th till (realistically) 8th could be any of 5-6 teams in any of those spots really

We have a good enough squad to perform better than Spurs or the RS right now. Among the "everybody else" only Crystal Palace look improved from last season. Leicester is still an unknown.

Barring injuries to Lukaku, Jags, or Stones, anything less than 6th is a complete failure this year after the transfer window we had.

A creative sort to feed Lukaku could have had us competing for 4/5.

Thing is mate, who are the nailed on teams to finish above us this year, myself id only say city - obviously, arsenal - cos they always manage top 4 and chelsea as you have to figure theyll sort their defence out a bit at least, all the others have massive problems, not saying we will but 4th is as open as its ever been.

Plus think theirs at least 2-4 of those managers who could come under pressure this year

I'd say 4th was more open 2 years ago, but I get the point.

But we drop far too many points against the likes of Sunderland.

Depends mate, the rs are far weaker than 2 years ago, spurs are no stronger, Arsenal are pretty much in the same spot, and United are not that much better off than they 2 years ago - just different weaknesses in them. combined with the rest of the league being i'd say overall a bit stronger and able to take points off those teams it could be wide open

It's a;ll just conjecture though unless we find a way of beating teams that come to sit back against us at Goodison though tbf

Very true. I suspect it's going to be a very interesting season and top 4 is as achievable this year as it has been in years.

Man U somehow have managed to go backwards spending obscene amounts of money.
