Post Stoke game, Stick or Twist?

No.

Here is the issue.

We were robbed of at least one point today by a bad call by a referee in the last minute.

Furthermore we were robbed of the chance to Have added another goal of our own when a blatant foul on Seamus Coleman in their penalty box went unpunished.

The fume here today should be about atrocious referring by a man who has displayed bias against EFC in the past.

That is what would be happening on the message forums of other clubs......the manager would not be the subject of their ire.

But not here.

On here we have a group of people who would rather blame the manager whose team once again put on a splendid display of attacking football, the likes of which we haven't seen at Goodison Park in decades.

And gloss over the fact that we were robbed by the referee.

Hahaha robbed of a last minute point off the mighty Stoke City, at home I may add

We've just conceded 4 goals at home to Stoke and you're main issue is the ref giving a dodgy decision in the last minute?? Complete and utter bollox

What is the point of playing lovely attacking football when Stoke City come and put 4 past you??? How many goals have they scored away from home before this game???

We've conceded 19 goals at home this season, 19 ffs but that's fine is it. We've thrown away leads left right and centre because we can't defend. But the main issue here is the ref.

Moan about that decision if we were 4-0 up and it ruined another clean sheet, not that we were 3-2 with 15 minutes to go and fell to pieces because we can't defend. It's as simple as that. We can't defend

Quite.

But for all your hatred of the manager you cannot refute the simple fact that a bad decision at one end robbed us of a point and a bad one at the other end (well, the same end, different half) denied us a goal scoring opportunity from the spot.

But hey......let's just turn on our manager and forget about the incompetence of the ref.

It is a sad day when Evertonians start making apologies for Clattenburg.

Coming next.......a revisionist history of the Clive Thomas semi final derby.

It was all Gordon Lee's fault.......:celebrate:

Hahaha a bad decision, let's ignore the 3 other goals that Stoke scored, brush them under the carpet with the 3 Leicester scored and the 3 Bournemouth scored, we all know they don't really count.

Jesus Christ lad you're stretching, I'm not defending that nonse clattenburg, the simple fact is that's it's irrelevant because we shouldn't have been in that situation, something which you're refusing to accept.

Shame we almost got a point against Stoke though, boss result if we could have held out for that

Moyes' first three full seasons, according to Wikipedia, we finished 7th, then 17th, then 4th. Also, I thought the squad we had when he first came here was...well, not as good as the current onE?

The expectation are different and Martinez has more resources. Moyes takes a team filled with Gemmill from Smith.

The team got themselves to blame. The defensive set up was just naive. Ref played a point but the fortune was in our hands, as always.

There's few excuses any more not to be finishing top half. Just outside European places is a fair minimum standard really. 55 point season or round that? We're just off that kind of pace at half-way mark, and we should really be better than it. We've 8 of the teams above us in the table to play away from home now so it's going to be a tough run til the end of the season. It would be hard not to think another manager could get more from the squad if this season heads back towards what we saw last season.

They might not have the stature of a club like Everton (or the club we once were, at least), but right now, they have an excellent team. I never thought we would win yesterday, though the manner is galling. On paper there's little to separate Everton and Stoke and they look more likely to finish higher in the league purely due to how they are set up to play.

Why are they higher?

More resources? How? Sky money is relative, we're as poor now as we were 10 years ago.

This really is easy pulling you apart.

You do realize this is no longer a Smith or Howard mk 3 era. Moyes made Everton a top 6/7 PL team and I expect the new manager can do the same. If not, that is going backward.

You can get info from the net I can't be arsed to look it up for you. What is the net spent of Moyes and Martinez per season...

Twist. We simply can't defend. Every time we face an attack we fall to pieces. He constantly says that we are learning, yet he continues with his insane formations and team selections that haven't worked for months. Best team in two decades and in a bang average premier league without Lukaku's goals we'd be down there with villa.

We had three shots on target in the match. All three were the goals so excuse me for not quite agreeing with your assessment that this is attacking football not seen for decades at Goodison. I've seen a load of football attacking and defensive wise far better than what's currently being served up.

We are having periods of good attacking football but they are not lasting long and are not the norm currently.
