Lots of postives to take for me. The midfield looked balance and we controlled long periods of the game. We battered them and the attitude was right.

Arteta makes us play football, it's as simple as really. He was playing deep because he is the holding midfielder, he's expected to be deep. He kept us ticking without ever taking the game to Villa. I've said we need to play him a bit further forward but with Cahill and Fellaini he can't do that. I also thought his energy and tenacity in midfield was excellent.

I thought Fellaini and especially Cahill got overrun at times, I also felt Cahill played to far forward. We reverted back to 4-4-1-1 when 4-1-4-1 looked very good at Spurs.

I honestly thought Anichebe had a great game for 60 minutes, he was bullying them at times. We did lack creativity though which meant he was having to create for himself...

Lots of positives, we've just got to cut out the lapses.
As fo most other times, I agree with your post. We should've won today. We were the better team for 70 minutes, but didnt get the breakthrough and luck certainly wasn't on our side today. To be fair, Villa played it perfectly today. Three chances and three goals.

I'm not saying that any of the 2/3 shouts for pens should've been given - but that they all definately could've been... But when the ref's missing handball's 2m in front of his face...

Plus, Friedel made a few top class saves and Cuellar cleared Fellaini's header off the line.

They rode their luck for large parts of the match and we never seem to have any - much better effort from the lads though, more of the same (and with Saha hopefully back as soon as next week) and we'll make the Uefa no worries.

From the 40th second we were the better team, make no doubt about that. We made three sloppy mistakes and handed them 3 goals. I take great optimism from this game that we completely out played a team who many see as a real challenge for that 4th spot.

Stupid [Poor language removed] wanky mistakes cost us. Jags, Arteta twice- 3 goals.

even with the loss, I too have a good feeling after this game

we we're pretty dominant for most of the match

perhaps this is the Jack Daniels talking though

also, how long did ADVM play for?... I only realized it was him on that final corner kick (assuming that was him)

which game where you watching lad???

youve never had a clue lad.

villa wer great today did a real job on us. id give anything to have that oneil as our manager.

It was back to the usual Everton home performance, dominate the game but not create an awful lot. I've said it before, we tend to score at home through sheer pressure and relentlessness, rather than a good bit of play. That's the disadvantage of Mikel playing deeper, we miss him in the attacking areas. I thought Victor did quite well, but he's not good enough to make a chance for himself. We didn't really have anyone in the side that can beat a player in advanced areas of the pitch. To be fair we only really have Yak, Saha and Arteta in our entire squad that can do that. VdM as well if you can include him, which I will because he was well up for it today and he made an impact, good to see. I wish we'd signed Ashley Young, he is exactly the player we need.

We bossed the game, even Villa fans are saying the same thing. Daylight robbery for me, we deserved to win.

On retrospect we did play well and loads of positives despite what this ToffeeWeb monkey will have us believe. The negatives are still there and they are the reason why we are not winning more games, because we are creating chances.

what game were you watching?

villa did a profesional job on us there lad. get your head from up your arse were down to eighth and won only one game at home all year. not good enough. you keep on pretending its sound though.

the facts are the facts. ONE WIN all year at home. still keep on pretending all is sound.

we finished fith and messed up again.

5 MORE YEARS OF THIS.
