Poll: Should we attempt to tie Ronald Koeman to a new, improved contract like we did with Martinez?

Should we try to tie down Koeman for longer asap?

Didn't he break his contract with Southampton to join us ? Longer contract makes no difference.... I mean Lukaku has 2 years left on his and supposedly he's off ! Happy with Koeman , but his current deal is good for now.

He has said himself that he's got two years to run, so doesn't want a new contract. Déjà Vu much?

Of course if he doesn't renew with one year left he will need to be sold.

It's a much safer bet than Martinez, that's for sure. I always think that Everton would've got shut of Martinez around Christmas 14/15 if they'd of not been so hasty and given him the new deal, becuase at that point he'd of only had 18 months left and would've been much cheeaper to bin, instead of the £10m he ended up stealing from us. With Koeman, I think the club is in a much better position to replace him, should he only do the 3 years, or even leave in the meantime. So IMO, he should stay on his current contract and I'd not bother even looking at a new one until the end of next season.

We can't second-guess if Koeman would sign or not. He's already been at big clubs in Europe and if he enjoys the Premier League what better club than us? Southampton is Southampton but we are Everton. I think he is enjoying it. I would at least make it known to him that we want him here longer than 3 years. He's 54 and relatively young.

For those who think wait and see, what if we finish 4th next season or win the Europa League and then he only he has one season left on his contract - and then for real, clubs with bigger reputations or money do actually come calling? It could lead to a disaster for us.

Neville Southall in the recent interview with @Adam-GOTTV said 'he's the best manager since Joe Royle'. Some praise considering David Moyes almost won us the FA Cup with no money, got us to 4th in that one great season, and Martinez's brilliant first season and near-victory in both domestic cups last season.

Even if he signs a new contract, he could still leave of the bigger clubs comes calling. Koeman doesn't react well to forcing him to sign as Southampton found out. Let's just enjoy next season without the hassle of will he sign a new contract. Sit down in the summer of 2018 and talk.

Pretty sure he's only ever extended his managerial contract at feyenoord and possibly ajax early on in his career so in all likelyhood like with southampton he will let it run down and decide what best suits him financially next.

Never want to see a manager get a contract renewal after 1 season again.

I would like him, at this point, to stay for a long time. But let's learn from previous errors and give him a little longer before offering silly money. Especially seeing as he appears to be happy currently.

We got our fingers burnt last time lets not get too hasty. He's doing well but he hasnt achieved anything yet (even if EL looks certain)
I am sure he was given his very generous current contract in the assumption he would get us in the CL so until he does that then there is no need to renew it.
