As some of the longer term members know, we've had long-running discussions about the merits of political threads on GOT as they tend to result in disagreements and in-fighting amongst Blues.

They, and other similarly 'hot' topics, do tend to be discussed however, so we're going to trial putting them all into the upgraded member lounge, where moderation is more relaxed on account of it being primarily used by members who have shown a willingness to support the site.

Threads that will be put there include topics such as politics, religion, guns and so on. Any existing threads on these topics will be moved over to the upgraded lounge by Sunday evening.

With automatic deletion of any threads with vulnerable pups in lederhosen or similar put directly into the bin

Well, the member lounge is more relaxed in terms of moderation, so it would seem the best place for dapper dogs

They always slip eventually, no matter what the topic mate,

The political threads just " out " them a bit quicker that's all.

If you really wanted to and were allowed to, you could set up a thread that'd drag them out into the open very quickly.

However entrapment isn't really something for a footy forum or is it ?

people cant agree on everything can they....Poitics affect ALL of us no matter how much people say they're not interested. Its right that we can hold strong views and argue in the main forum rather than shunt these discussions into a siding....we get worked up about EFC as well don't we - and thats allowed...leave things as they are please

I find the bad teds in the politics discussions end up being bad teds in most other discussions so that problem usually takes care of itself.

Its more along the lines that the amount of grief political threads cause us, and the amount of aggression/point scoring/roundabout arguements they create make us question if they are suitable for a football forum.

The actual rules say "No Politics", which we have flexed with at times. So no censorship, just management of the site for the benefit of the majority.

Poor show.

Keep it in the open, I say. The vast majority of posting on the political threads is inoffensive and some of it is positively insightful and illuminating.

A sad day for GOT.
