Its always important to be "involved", if for no other reason than to drive up the price our competitors need to pay, so that they can further bury themselves in debt. Why let a Newcastle sign a Ba on the cheap. Get in there, bid for him, and drive the price up.

THIS POSTER DESERVES AN AWARD.

We could bankrupt our competitors by driving up the price in every negotiation. With the fair play reg I would liken it to some clubs hitting a brick wall.

I doubt its what we're actually doing in 90% of cases but still. Would be good to do.

yeah that's a great idea that Matt let's spend all our time getting involved in deals just to bang the price up , 1. Most of the clubs out there wouldn't bat an eye lid it's the premier league and and extra few grand a week to most top clubs is like spare change , 2, if we carried on doing something as daft as this clubs would get wise to us because there not stupid and wouldn't even sit round the table with us an include us in any transfers for there players , 3 , iam sure our attendances will go from average 35000 down to even less if we adopted this tactic, I know iam on the brink with the club now after watching them home and away nearly everyweek for 20 years&,that would prob see the end off me and maybe a lot of others

No Gary. Its really not.

I could run you through the A-Z of the clubs accounts and the club licencing rules, but we've probably already covered that in the Moyes to Villa thread.

We know you're a great fumer Gary. Keep fuming. The forum needs the popcorn.

You just continue to defend the club Matt. I admire your passion mate , couldn't disagree more with some of your points , showing me the clubs accounts won't change my mind in a million years that we need to get our transfers done early like MOYES said , worrying about ourselves will take preference everyday of the week for me rather than getting involved with transfers we just bumping up the wages an extra 10 k a week but God loves a try'er hey ?? Just ask uncle Bill

The problem is though we can't afford £65 for a shirt, we are standing outside Primark hoping someone might buy our old skiddy undies, so that we can head into the store and have root through the bargin bin. Meanwhile some bigger boys are eyeing up our new adidas fellini trainers and our rodwell tracksuit.

Nice analogy, sums it up.

I must admit. I'm getting annoyed now. Alas, this is the mystical Evertonian way.

Doubt we'll sign anyone except Jay bothroyd, unless yaubu, yobo and rodwell are sold

Are people really annoyed, by June the 17th? REALLY? It's SO early in the window. We know how our club has worked, over the last few years - we sell to buy, and if we do, they are late sales (to raise the selling price) and, thus, late buys.
No, it's not the ideal way to operate, but it IS the way we operate.

We had a cheeky punt, on someone who 'appeared' to be available quite cheap, but, knowing he's not a world beater, plus has a dodgy medical history, refused to pay over the odd's for the pleasure of his services.

We're skint, end of. Maybe one day, we won't be, but, for now, we are. I'm glad we didn't go all out, for, let's face it, a just above average, player. To me, that seems, that, we do have other targets in mind and he would have been a bonus adage - nowt more, nowt less.

Maybe, come the end of next season, I'll have a change of heart - if he's pumped in 20+ goals for the'codes - but for now, I'm not angry, or frustrated, or apprehensive - that'll come in the last week of August, when it always does.

Do I think we dodged a bullet? Maybe. Am I glad we didn't lose a valuable chunk of transfer wedge, finding out? Definitely.

Yeah this.

I'm not really bothered we didn't get Ba, or anyone else in yet.

Things will happen.

Its when we kick off at Spurs and haven't signed anyone, then i'll fume.
