Playing without a target man

DCL is going to be the main man, with Rooney and Sandro rotating with him on occasion, neither of which are ideally suited to the role. It's also putting a massive responsibility on DCLs shoulders. Hope the lad is up to it.

Poor show really. Koeman's like a groom who has picked all his bridesmaids but doesn't have a wife.

At the end of the day, if DCL steps up to the plate we could come out of this relatively unscathed, but that would be more luck than judgement.

This new Croatian lad plus Ross possibly coming back into the fold, could turn into wild cards. We'll have to see how that saga unfolds I guess.

Brilliant.

The RS and city don't play with a target man and yet they score goals freely. The difference is....they have an ambulance of pace in attacking positions we do not. However when you've just spent 45m on allegedly the best dead ball specialist in the league and then don't sign a target man to utilise these strengths, it's hard to understand. Likewise the RS boulght a target man in Benteke but didn't supply him with the ammunition.
I'm not surprised they've got pace if they're using an ambulance mate. Presumably they just put the siren on and everyone pulls out of the way.

and they won what last year?

Nothing but the point is we all want the club to take the next step, to compete for the Champions league places on a regular basis and to be able to compete for the big names.

By not signing a proper replacement for Lukaku we are directly harming our chances of achieving the above.

Bit of a catch-22 this.

You can't get a top-class striker without Champions League football, but you (probably) can't get Champions League football without a top-class striker.

Think we will be fine personally until we bring one in. There's not many better than Rooney at dropping off to link up play. If we can get runners beyond him think we'll be fine.

Also think Sandro is quick enough to play off the shoulder when required.

DCL is more suited to a target man role than Rom was, just a shame he hasn't developed a scoring instinct yet.
Needs a bit of time surely.

The new Croatian lad looks quick.lots of posters commenting on how quick DCL is,but then that wouldn't suit your agenda.
Enjoyed how fast lewen was against stoke mate, and split, and Chelsea

Speed doesn't depend on how quick a player is, it's how quick the team attacks. Fyi passing it about at the half way line means no speed in the team.
