Playing without a target man

Target man is not the issue, it's attacking focal point. Somehow you need to get up the pitch, whether that's down the wings, over the top, or through the centre.

The Chelsea game was a simple case albeit against a very well organised team: wingbacks nullified, no wingers, nobody running the channels, no central attacker. I think Ronkoe is a good tactician and will work out a way forward. But it's clearly harder without a proper striker nor proper wingers. My solution would be DCL -- I really rate him and think he would arrive at the required level if he gets the starts.

Not crucial..but its always good to have a big target man for options..I don't think its about all out blistering pace though it helps..i'd say more the tempo of the passing and interchanging..there were glimpses in the first half against split that the tempo was right and we looked very good ...Im fairly confident it will be fine..just needs a bit of time to gel the newbies in..

Hopefully Lookman gets a lot more games, Davies comes into midfield and Ramirez is a revelation. The midfield of Gueye Schneiderlin Klaasen does not seem to work.

Stick mirallas upfront I'm being serious give him a go. I know he's not a target man but he's got quick feet and pace.

I agree, we have Lookman who looks great as well and Sandro settling in. Koeman wanted more goals across the squad I think that is what we will get. Not all negative as it is a good opportunity for players to step up. End of the day January window is 16 weeks away it took us that long to sign Siggurdsen

A lot will depend on how Calvert-Lewin develops and how Sandro will adapt to this new league. I had hoped to see Sandro played out on the left of a 3 this season but he's going to have to play up front a lot more than Koeman would have hoped for.

I assume this is possible?!

Liverpool seem to do it well

Do we just not have the personal required?

I'm disappointed we didn't get the centre forward in we needed and that our manager was banking on to play in his desired formation.

That being said I believe it is a manager's job to get the best out of what he has. Maybe we can stumble on a formation that turns out to be more effective. I hope so anyway. :)

Lookman and Vlasic on either wing until Bolasie is back and maybe Mirallas can win his place back who knows. I don't think it's the doom and gloom being painted even though we did make a boob not getting a target man.

Think we'd be better playing a 4 3 3 with our current personal.

When everyone is fit something like

Coleman Keane Williams Baines
Gana Morgan Klassen
Bolasie Rooney Gylfi

For now it would obviously have to have Holgate or cuco rb and Sandro or Kev in for Bolasie. We can revert to 451 if we bring on DCL for one of the midfielders or front 3 in cretin games

It could work at home with say Lookman, Mirallas and Sandro all interchanging and the likes of Rooney and Sig behind, away from home it won't work you need someone to hold it up DCL is all we have and he can't play every game ffs!
