Carsley. Perhaps less about settling, more about Moyes finding a system which he was great for us in. Don't recall him looking too hot under Smith.

I remember a young Carsley coming to Goodison and just sitting in front of the back with Derby (think it was the game that Igor Stimic set up a goal from a corner we’re he went off the pitch and back on).

He was outstanding; goes to Blackburn and us (pre Moyes) and they both played him in a 2 man midfield and he looked awful. I always wondered what managers and scouts used to see that would get them to remove a player that looked so comfortable and try and fit them into a system that they didn’t suit

Steven Naismith. Moyes played him all over the pitch and he looked useless. When he finally played him in his favourite position just behind the striker, he was our best finisher at the club.
