I thought everyone knew the reason Luke Garbutt is still here, MONEY, he was given an excellent contract of £25,000 a week when he signed it, he’s set for life and will another contract off a club when we sign him off at the end of this season. Niasse, Schneiderlin, Sigurdsson, Tosun, Martina, Besick, Walcottt, Bolasie and maybe a couple more are in the same nice cosy and comfortable position, that’s why we can’t feckin’ get rid of them, and the people who signed them have left the club while getting rich while they were making these ridiculous deals.
My comment was made for that reason, bring our own through makes more sense for all aspects of the club.

It is like when you graduated from school or university.
How many friends in your class become the next big thing or being famous in their careers?
Most of them will have normal lives and normal jobs, I guess :)

It's a strange one. Sambou has gone and is getting game time in the Dutch first division, and Evans now in the Bundesliga, and of course Robinson should really have gone to Milan this week. It suggests they're not complete no hopers, yet they can't seem to dislodge guys like Iwobi and Walcott, who are having complete stinkers.

Perhaps also managers (I'm thinking more Silva rather than Ancelotti) feel the pressure from the boardroom to play the likes of Walcott, Schneiderlin, Sigurdsson etc. due to their pricetag / wages. Somehow I don't think Ancelotti would feel that same pressure.

Liam Walsh scored and had an assist for Coventry yesterday hopefully the can do what lundstram has done and work his way back up to a higher level
Good player is Walsh. I thought he was the best of the U23s midfield when he was with us. A bit on the small side but hard as nails and had great vision when on the ball.

I'm hoping to write something on this, as it's an interesting debate and quite a difficult one. I don't think there are any clear cut answers or easy ones.

What I will say though, is the continual chopping and changing at the top of the club hasn't helped a lot of the younger players. It leads to a short termism in thinking and people just thinking about their next win. Each manager has also had quite a different style and again this has probably made it harder for players to break in or to know what we are preparing players for. At the top of the club, your DOF probably haven't been strong enough in encouraging a culture whereby players got given an opportunity.

Some of the younger players haven't always grabbed the opportunities provided either. I think Tom Davies continues to make similar mistakes to when he first began. Kenny has taken to moving to Germany to kick on and Lookman seemed to have the wrong attitude while he was here.

I'd add I don;t think Unsworth has done them any favours by not moving them out on loan early enough.

So yes lots to be learnt. The city of Liverpool and it's surrounding areas is a goldmine of talent and we need to make the best of that for sure.
