David Johnson, meh....
Yes should have never been sold in the first place, and to get Rod belfit to replace him Bah
I remember seeing Johnson as a youngster, he was so fast but always seemed to hit the woodwork, never ever should have been sold, I knew he would become a top striker , but was really gutted when it was for the other lot!!

TBF a good point as his second spell was plagued by injuries, Bobby Robson must have thought it was his birthday when we bought him back - with his injuries , and red cards - a great icon for the club in a bad period of play though!

Im a massive big Dunc fan, for sentimental reasons if nothing else - from his first spell, but i think his second spell is remembered on the basis of the goal Vs Man U and to a lesser extent the disallowed goal vs Viallareal.

In his second spell he was badly plauged by injruries, he started and played few games - yet he was probably our highest earner during that time, going from memeory he was on 34k back in the early 00's when that was a lot of money for a club. He had a long running fued with Moyes, we desperately needed a striker and i think his wage was huge inhibiting factor in that. You could never doubt his passion - but we would wait a couple of months for him to be fit and think great: then he would invaribly get sent off and have a 3 game ban.

All in all its a deal that prob should never had been done and was made with the heart rather then the head and did have a material impact on us at the time. People forget that we flirted with relegation frequently during his second spell. And for our best payed player he was bit part at best due to injury, rivalry and indiscpline.

Exactly what I stated in my post, he is not the worst blues player to return to us, if he was not scoring his moral to the players , and fans were special as an icon in a poor form team!

If his second spell had have been his first he would be remembered as fondly as James Beattie and less then Super Kev, Andy Johnson or the Yak.
