Only player who had a good game was McCarthy. Decent: Howard/Baines/Jagielka/Distin- Didn't do too much wrong but didn't do anything well either. I though Coleman played pretty well until he lost his head for a few minutes and left us scrambling at the back for the second goal. The PK call I'm not going to count against him. Naismith did his thing, hustled all over, played some strong defense and got stuck in when needed and then when called upon to use his touch or make a pass his feet fail him. He is what he is but he is better than he was last year when he couldnt run.

Osman- Didn't have as many turnovers but surprise surprise once again midfielders have no problem going right down the middle when he is stationed there.

Barkley- Just never was able to dictate any of the game.

Mirallas- Poor game. Hopefully he is a slow starter but once again he and Gibson just can't seem to stay healthy.

Lukaku- Pretty much what I think we will see all season. Can be physically imposing and show a nose for goal, bu his passing can be atrocious. How many times did he hold up the ball (already a step above our other strikers) but then sent a pass to nowhere or behind the midfielders giving the ball away or slowing our rush.

Overall, while we were shafted by the ref a few times, we didn't deserve the points. Missing Barry in the middle is huge if Gibson is not fully fit. With our new style we will live and die by our ability to pass the ball accurately and today there were too many simple passes that we couldnt pull off and too many turnovers to play a game where we could get some points. What would have been if we could have held the lead into HT and have the MC nerves and doubt creep in......
