Tough game, no Arteta, up against an even better team than Inter had to face. Good point.


Howard - 5. I'd never seen him make a massive mistake before this season, and now he's made two. Typical, because he just got player of the month for us; bad omen indeed.

Neville - 7. Used his experience well and kept Bale pretty quiet tbh.

Jags - 8. Immense throughout. Dealt with everything they threw at him. But as usual his distribution is shocking.

Distin - 6. Terrible first half, but good second half. Very good to stop VDV near the end.

Baines - 8. MOTM. Solid defensively for the most part, and a stunning free kick that's netted me a load of vbookie cash :lol:

Coleman - 6.5. Quiet tbh. Didn't really get the service he needed either.

Pienaar - 7. Odd game for him. His ball retention and close control was beyond exceptional, but his passing was wayward all game.

Heitinga - 6. Gave the ball away too much, and was a bit clumsy.

Bily - 6. Uneventful, but his control was better and he didn't look too out of place.

Cahill - 7. Fighting non-stop, and his close control and retention was good.

Yakubu - 7. Held the ball up well, but didn't have enough support.


Subs


Beckford - 5. Useless, and gave the ball away in the last minute to Bale -- derp.

Hibbert - 6. Phwoar, what a shot.

Saha - 5. Useless as well. Nothing from him.



Moyes - 7. A lack of options really, but the team were exceptionally well drilled defensively. Only an individual error -- again -- has set us back.

Thought distin deserved an 8 he was again solid and probably one of our best defenders at the minute and i thought jags was indifferent today think he might be carrying an injury still he deserved a 6 but apart from that i agree with the rest
 
Sorry mate need to pick you up on a couple of points here.

Jags has great distribution, but half the time you need players to make the intelligent runs, and Coleman doesn't need service, he provides it. I actually think Moyes told him to not go raiding forward to often to help Neville with Bale.

Jags distribution. By that I mean his hoofing. It's piss poor. However he's starting to play it on the ground more. He does not have "great" distribution though. Fellaini and Arteta have great distribution.

Coleman was good tracking back, I think. One of the reasons Bale was quiet, as you said, but by service I mean those through balls near their box. Neville's were not up to scratch, and a few times Pienaar's were too long as well.
 
I think that last injury has done some voodoo [Poor language removed] to Jagielka's distribution, he's actually not bad now. Great performance today like. Honourable mentions to Neville, Baines and first half Pienaar too.

I will admit, I prefer this sideways passing to Distin to the old "oh [Poor language removed] I've got the ball... 'AVE IT" insta-hoofing of old.

It's not gone away entirely though, and a couple of times he wasted possession rather needlessly today, I feel. Not quite as badly as Heitinga though.

I'd like to see Heitinga alongside Jagielka, that would improve the distribution thing. Not just yet though, let Distin lose his place first.

Heitinga's distribution was great last season -- really was -- but post-world cup it's been terrible mate. He doesn't look arsed, quite frankly.
 
It wasn't a bad display apart from Howard and his cross and Johnny who seems to have lost his bite. Bily needs more games.
 

Bily - 0.absolutly terrible should not be in team.
get rid of him now while hes worth about a mil
before he ends up about 100 k , BILLY OUT.
 
Jags was colosal today, he and Distin really are forming a good partnership we look far more solid withHeitinga and Coleman in the team also.

Baines is just simply superb the consistency he has shown in the past two years has been phenomnal, easily out best player in the last two seasons.
