Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg.

Is he one of those players that because he's been mentioned as a target people just want to see him in the door because we're desperate, and actually he's not very good / won't improve us? Or if in theory there was never any link would anyone really be saying "I think we should go for that Hojbjerg lad, he's decent"? Just a thought.
I don't want us spending our transfer kitty on someone who we might want to get off the wages in 2 years time (like Schneiderlin), if we're not completely sure he's what we need. I'm not even sure he'd get ahead of the current Spurs midfield tbh. £15m take it or leave it, and we just move on if not.

Shouldn’t be taken to the cleaners over this one. Last year of his contract and wants away. No need to pay over the odds.
I personally think the Spurs chat is Southampton trying to create a bidding war. Hopefully we've made our stance very clear, we're only bidding X amount and if that's not enough we're moving on.

For £20m I think he'd be a really good signing. Anything over that and you'd think there'd be players just as good available around Europe - would rather have Allan.

£20m would be genuinely pushing the envelope on this one - £35m would be actually insane.
That's exactly how I feel too. Anything more than £20m we should be doing the Abe Simpson routine

Why would we go from offering £14m via Joyce and McNulty to offering £30m?

We wouldn't have is the answer.
Wasn't 14m included possible player trading as well? The player seems to want Spurs and Saints appear happy to wait for them to bid so I'd walk away. If he's happy to be a bit part player there rather he doesn't have the mentality we need.
