4 year contract... to a 30 year old.. are we stupid.

if he signs a 4 yr deal then he will be available for transfer after 2.5 years. Obviously for a lesser fee than today. Alternatively if he is good for the four it would be a fre at the end. investment wise its a good idea.

I think Moyes knows we have a few talented youngsters coming through the ranks that can replace our older players over the next three or four years.
For now we need to move on to the next level and possibly a cup which needs older more experienced players.
Pienaar is a talent and makes us tick now!
The future will look after itself

Good point, with Barkley, Garbutt, Green, Rodwell, Duffy, would love us to get Donavan, the guy loves us, we love him, he would sign for us.

this is donavan answer when asked if he would come back
Would you like to come back to Everton?
I would absolutely like to come back. There’s no question about that. And I know I will be back at some point. Now, whether I’m back as a player or just as a fan, who knows? Right now, my focus is obviously is on this season and qualifying for the World Cup. It’s a big, really important year, and then we’ll see what happens. I’ve always said the same thing: I’ll see how my body feels, I’ll see how I feel mentally, I’ll see where the Galaxy are at and what they’re OK or not OK with and then we’ll make a decision. Obviously a big part of it too is whether David Moyes wants me. There is a lot of factors that go into it. I don’t see it as a foregone conclusion that 1: I’ll be physically OK to go, 2: the Galaxy would let me go, and 3: that Everton would want me. You have to make sure all of those aligned and if it all works out, then it works out and if not, then it doesn’t.

to be fair to mulletsareback, he could have been right in saying it would be completed today, even if it is finalised tomorrow, because maybe pienaar was expected back from amsterdam earlier. obviously, i can understand all scepticism

Sky Sports understands Steven Pienaar is undergoing a medical at Everton ahead of his return to the club.

Everton finally agreed a fee with Tottenham for Pienaar over the weekend after weeks of talks between the two clubs.

Toffees boss David Moyes has made Pienaar one of his top transfer priorities this summer after he impressed on loan at Goodison Park during the second half of last season.

Pienaar left Everton for Tottenham in January 2011, but the South Africa international failed to hold down a regular place in the Spurs side.

The 30-year-old moved back to Everton on loan in January and he impressed in scoring four goals in 14 games for the club.

Should Pienaar successfully come through his medical at Finch Farm he will become Everton's second signing of the summer following the arrival of Steven Naismith.

Yep add gethin jones and oliver shannon from what i'm told to those and the future could be rosy.
Would love donavan back he gives us balance as well as his obvious other qualities.
Think even if we can't afford him yet he will sign for us full time when his mls contract expires

Pienaar is class and I don't see how he will struggle as he gets older, as his game doesn't rely on pace but his ability on the ball which is something that you will never lose, 4 year deal sounds about right for me.

4 year deal is fine, he has a good couple of years left of bossing out left wing and then as he starts to age he will become a very good impact sub/general playmaker

Happy that Pienaar is coming back but sad that his little London adventure is going to cost us £1.5m in net transfer fees. Maybe we'll make it up with a slightly lower wage.

What's clear to me is that Pienaar really wants to be here now. No more wandering eyes. Everyday he'll be hustlin'.
