Pienaar

I don't really understand the suggestion that Spurs have done well regarding the transfers of Stephen Pienaar. They paid Everton 3m,plus signing on fees ,agents fees and taxes, probably costing close to 5m.They barely used the player from January until his loan move twelve months later ,in that time they probably paid out in excess of 3m in wages. They are now getting a reported 4.5m or maybe less.I think that they may be about 3m down on the deal in total.
That is not to suggest that Everton have done much better.
The real winners here are S.Pienaar and his advisors.

Landon in and Yobo out and I'd be happy

This. This. This. This. This. This!!

I do think some need to realize... (And I'm not defending the board here) but we did not lazily let pienaar's contract run down. Pienaar had decided he was goin to do that. Pienaar had decided that he was a CL player. Pienaar decided he was bigger than efc!

We could of offered him the same as Arteta and he still would of gone and done the same thing and the same outcome!

I agree with this - Pienaar when he initially signed only wanted to sign a 3 year contract (contrast that with Kompany who has just signed a 6 year deal) which says to me that he has always wanted to keep his options open. Looking back on his career shows that it wasnt a one off. I dont think money was as big an issue as the chance to play in the champions league
I looked at his previous spell positively almost like a 4 year loan deal

We need to ignore what has happened previously but just focus on signing an excellent player for us for £4m
