Pienaar

Just my personal opinion, arterta was too inconsistent, i think for about 18 months he played to his potential, his set pieces where awful, his corners in particular.

His set pieces in his prime were excellent though. Only in the last 18 months of his Everton career did I notice them being gash. Post Fa cup final run injury.

Can I just say while it's ace he will be back, it's fu**ing hideous that we are all excited about this.

We need fresh faces.

agreed, i think it was very silly we let a player like pranjic through our grasp (don't know how serious our interest was), but still, it seems it was because moyes was more interested on landing his main target pienaar. i'd like to think our club is capable of trying to buy more than one player at once ffs

Because we were a proper second tier side then financially - like Spurs or Newcastle or how Villa were a couple of years ago. Plus Kancho, erm, 'needed' to leave.

My favourite Everton player in memory (was born in 84 like).

Don't see many wingers like him these days. Kancho was a true out-and-out winger, both footed, pacy, good with his head, too. Cristiano Ronaldo is the closest to his style, except Ronaldo rarely puts in a cross. Shows how the game has changed, I suppose.

Fellaini for me.

a fi. arteta over pienaar in their primes, although i'd probably say pienaar looks better atm (bias aside). but still fellaini is not only versatille but a machine, sadly i don't think he'll be with us for too many more years because someone is clearly going to notice just how good he is at the end of this season

I think it took him longer to get over his injury than it seemed, however, i'm convinced he had set his heart on a move to Arsenal that next summer, before his form dropped off severely. If Fabregas had forced a move that summer instead of last, I think Arteta would have gone, possibly for more than he did, and Pienaar would have gotten the contract he was after, and would never have moved to spurs

Different tune being played here than last January when statos were proving that Pienaar wasn't all that (lack of goals and assists) only had 1 good season, and Baines made him look good.

Just saying

I think Arteta's still better than Pienaar. Arsenal love him.

We miss him less than we missed Pienaar because we have good options in center mid in his stead. Aside from Donovan and Drenthe's intermittent games for us, we've had our wings occupied by two of Osman, Anichebe, Gueye and Coleman since he left. That's a rubbish roster of wingers, truth to be told.

If we had a Fellaini-level player on the wings we'd have missed Pienaar just as little as we've missed Arteta.
