Next person who says Pienaar was better than Arteta is GETTING IT.

i would say he is , if arteta came back last season on loan i could not have seen him making such an impact as pienaar did . arteta has not looked the same player since his injury even for arsenal

I'd say Pienaar makes a bigger difference to us than Arteta did for his last 12 months or so, but Arteta at his best (around the time of Donovan's first loan in my opinion - Chelsea 2-1, United 3-1, City away 2-0 etc.) was superior.

For those of us who weren't old enough/born for the best of the '80's, Mikel Arteta in his prime is the best we've seen. No one even comes close.

Well yeah I've only witnessed Everton from the 90s onwards, but nonetheless out of all the players I've seen put on the royal blue he -- at his best -- stands head and shoulders above the others. In terms of sheer technical quality anyway.

But I think if Fellaini stays for another few seasons and continues to improve as he has been I'll have to adjust that opinion.

If you're talking in terms of their entire career, Arteta is better. In terms of as recently as last season, Pienaar is better. Basically, i'd rather have Arteta at his prime than Pienaar at his. Watch our 2006/07 season in full if you don't share this opinion.

Arteta in his first two seasons with us, out on the wing, yes, out on the wing, well he just used to walk past people effortlessly. He either beat his man or got fouled. Pienaar does for our team everything we hoped Arteta would by playing in the middle of the park, namely play a passing game.

Just my personal opinion, arterta was too inconsistent, i think for about 18 months he played to his potential, his set pieces where awful, his corners in particular.
