If you look at what AVB was trying to do at Chelsea, getting rid of the older players and trying to bring through the younger ones, i cant see him wanting Pienaar. Pienaar is 30 now and the likelihood is AVB will start shaft the older players and start blooding the younger ones.

I'm not so sure that was AVB but very possibly the boards initial intentions mate & I suspect the aim of youthful team selection was maybe to reduce the influence of the older players 'cabal' at Chelsea .

Spurs midfield: lennon - gylfi - parker - bale. and that's obviously without counting Modric or VdV

I agree, with that deal tied up it seems that there would be less need to keep hold of pienaar, and another plus is that the RS wanted him and lost out to spuds
