Pienaar to leave?

That's what I thought.

He may not be as skillful on the ball as Peanuts but he'd chip in with more goals than Peanuts does too. The question is can he play out on the wing?
He is not a winger (which is not a problem, because we don't play with wingers), but he is quite good as a cutting in left midfielder (like Pienaar). He is useless on the right though (unlike Pienaar).

Pienaar will leave us unless we qualify for champs league. I believe this is why he has not signed. If we can give him a foundation in the Champs League then I believe he will sign for us before moving somewhere else.

We hold his destiny in our own league finish. Personally I do not blame him. He wants to forward his career and he can do it if he had the chance.

He has not asked for a transfer and he is still doing the job on the pitch. I thinks he is a very admirable and loyal person. he is giving us all the chances we need. At the end of the day, if we can not give him highest level football, then he needs to move on for himself.

We don't really play with traditional wingers anyway, and with Bainsey bombing on I think a straight swap in January would be a good bit of business.

We are never getting into the champs league mate

I don't know what's going on in Pienaar's head, but I've checked what happened the last time he walked out on a club that put him on the map. When he was negotiating his pre-contract with Dortmund, the Germans were 9th in the Bundesliga (and would go on to finish 7th and out of Europe). Ajax were sitting in 4th place, which at the time put them in "play-off" for the teams placed 2nd-4th for the second CL place (Ajax went on to win and play in the 3rd qualifying round, losing to FC Copenhagen). If the past is any indication for the present, his greed takes precedence over his ambition. To be honest, we tend to project our frustrations with Everton (lack of ambition, no Champions league, Moyes is a right tw@t, etc) in order to justify Pienaar's departure, but the likeliest explanation remains the fact that the signing-on fee he's demanding is 2-5 times the size of Everton's cash reserves.

Speaking of the signing-on fee, he really is in the stronger position. Whatever offers Everton receive for him in January will be predicated on him getting his money - otherwise he'll simply refuse to be transferred. That's why I think any cash offers are unlikely. A swap might be an option for a manager who would like to get somebody off the wage bill, but both players will have to agree to it - and we'd have to hope that the incoming player will have reasonable demands. Something's for sure, though, Pienaar's not going to Inter (their quota for non-EU players is full).

Hi all,

I think all this speculations that Peinaar might leave might actually make him want to leave even if he has no intention of doing so... just because he's had enough, do you know what I mean?

Like when a young woman keeps telling a young man, "you don't love me." "You'll cheat on me, I know so." And the young man keeps saying, "I do love you." "No, I won't cheat on you."

If this goes on ad infinitum, the young guy will go, "Heck if there's nothing I can do or say that would convince you that I love you, I might as well scoot."

I hope I've explained myself well enough to get my point across What I'm saying is maybe Pienaar just wants to keep his option open, have a good think, then commit when he's ready. Not when everyone say he is.

Let's keep him, besides he's cute. :)

He still gets cheered at Goodison when his name is read out before the match. He must know that the fans love him despite the fact that he is clearly playing his contract down to [Poor language removed] off and cash in on a Bosman.
