What happened to 12 month contracts? It's now 18 and 24 months.

If your happy with your phone brand, and you have an option to upgrade to a better phone, but on a 24 month contract, would you?

I have been happy with my phone for the last 18 months I have had it, so I can't imagine being annoyed at being tied into another 24 months.

Hmm, any thoughts?

I buy all mine unlocked for practical reasons. Pay as you go have some very good offers on at the moment like.

Ok well the phoneI use is perfect for me, so hopefully nobody will chat about that issue.

My current plan is £30 p/m and I get 75mins and something like 125 texts. I'm out of contract now, next payment due on 8th Feb - so i'm going to wait until then.

But there is a contract for the better model, £45 p/m but I get 500 texts and 500 minutes or something like that - which is much more than I need, and to be fair I ended up paying closer to £45 before. The killer for me is, the phone is free - I don't need to pay anymore for a better phone.

Seems like an easy choice right?

orange told me last time that if i take out an 18 month contract then i can upgrade after 12, as long as i take out another 18 or more.

i'm currently looking for either a contract with someone else ( as i often cant get a signal at home and as it's for work, thats a problem) or orange want me to stay with them and get a UMA (ORANGE UNIQUE THEY CALL IT) handset that will connect by getting the signal from my wireless router, they are offering me 300 mins 300 txts unlimited landlines for a tenner, which is pretty good, but useless if it doesn't work, and i cant find much info or feedback on UMA over here. i can have a htc tattoo which is an android phone. voda have offered me a hero 300 mins 300 txts for £15 but i could do with the unlimited landlines really as it saves on the home phone usage.

i hate new mobile time, until i get it that is.

if you are happy to renew ghost than cant you just get another iphone or a cheaper plan that doesn't include a handset ?

Well I need to upgrade the phone as this one is starting to lag big time. There's only so many re-charges you can do before it gets tired.

It's just like a computer - we have a PC laptop at work that has 3 minutes life before it needs a full charge - and that's no word of a lie.

So I'm thinking if i'm spending £45 a month anyway, I may as well get a decent phone for free.

You're moaning about being skint yet you want to spunk extra money on a phone contract every month?

shakes head*

Economics man.

I'm not skint?

My MOT which I had budgeted £300 cost me £40 for the MOT, £3 for the missing wheel nut, and £5 in fuel to send the wife to Chester to get it.

Oh and the £40 she spent on a new coat as compensation for going to Chester.

It's all a business expense anyway, and that's kicking off again very soon.

You're a bad tax fraudist and no mistake.

my laptop has a dodgy power lead and it works itself loose, then i have about a minute to get it on mains again before it hibernates. laptop batteries are a lot more expensive than phone batteries though.

i'm paying 35 with orange but i dont even use a 1/4 of my mins, i get 900 x-network 600 texts and unlimited landlines, with insurance and extra call charges i pay about 45. they offered me the same plan for about £18 but it's the signal thats the issue. i reckon i lose work due to it every week so if it was 1 job a week then i could pay £200 a month and still be better off than i have been, reckon i could have a sat phone for that or one of those Rado jobbies.
