I hated him when he was playing for Mach. U, he never smiled and looked like an old fart. But as he has been at Everton for some time I've been impressed by his professionalism. He`s a great leader and kept Bale quiet.

Its been great to see how he has supported Coleman in his new role, if you look at the game Neville is generally never more then 20 yards away from Seamus, very underatted by us, offers us something different slotting back into the midfeild as well.

And how many times has THAT been said? He's a crucial part of the team, irreplaceable even.

When Arteta's out, Pienaar steps up. When Pienaar's out, Arteta steps up. When both of them are out then Baines and Cahill can step up. When the strikers are out Cahill steps up. We have lots of key players who make us better by them being in the team, but I don't think any other single player has the same massive influence that Neville has. He'll be some manager in a few years.

Disgree. Although Bale took his goals well, for me it was simply inter dropping the pace in the last 5 minutes. He never took on maicon or lucio it was zanetti who he destroyed watch the goals back!! Bale is good bt by god inter (zanetti) made it easy.

I'm sorry but Neville is our best RB at the club at the moment. Certainly the most complete RB we have as he's solid defensively and he can join in the attack. He's first choice without a doubt for me and his fantastic leadership skills also bring an important attribute to the team.

Well you're being a pedant.

My point was less about Maicon, and more about Neville and Bale. Bale is very good, so you can't be that bad if you keep him quiet.

He's a poor player by our standards. And I say by our standards because we have a host of excellent footballing players. However, as cringeworthy as it is, his experience, leadership or whatever you want to call it, is still important.
