Yeah that's the rumour, same one that's been going about for a few days. Don't like to judge based on gossip but the claim looks to be at least be partly based in reality.

If it's as bad as some claim then im surprised ITV would go to such great lengths to keep him, especially in todays climate. I guess if they were to chuck him under the bus it would be an admission something happened and they'd rather just have this 'grey' area where people are like 'well we don't know for sure' and hope the story just goes away.

Innocent until proven guilty I suppose.

Not sure I would say it was 'sinister' more suspicious regarding motive and timing. It would appear that a disgruntled ex (admittedly younger but nothing illegal in that) was about to blow his cover and he chose to steal his thunder. Classic PR management, get ahead of the story and own the story. Now rather than a revelation the ex only has what will sound like a sour grapes tale of being dumped and people are less likely to want details.

It isnt too hard to see the story line that could be put together is it?

Even if there wasn't I'm sure the papers could generate one! It's not a particularly wholesome story granted; married man cheats on (unless they were in an open relationship-TBC) wife with young assistant who presumably will do almost anything to keep his new boss sweet. But that leads to how old would he have to be to make it OK? It doesn't take into account that that 18 year old probably knew exactly what he was getting into (unless Phil threatened his job if he didn't, but that would be a whole different take on this), who flirted with who and finally made the move. Unless one day we are all hooked up to cameras that feed everything what we say and do into the system, we'll never be privy to what actually went on.

ITV now have a gagging order.

Unfortunate turn of phrase if you ask me.

Lots being made of how old the lad was at the start of the relationship too.
Those gagging orders are strange things...maybe.

I think the nonce rumors gained traction because there is supposedly a photo of Schofield with the kid when he was just 10 years, there was also an interaction between both of them on twitter when the boy was 15.

Obviously not evidence of him abusing the kid but that's why the nonce stuff is gaining traction

If they tried to sack him for having a legitimate relationship with another concenting adult the LGBT community would be up in arms.

Plus it`s a txt book work relationship - powerful member of a staff has a relationship with a much younger junior member of staff.

I can`t think of one place that I`ve worked, where a boss HASN`T been having it away with a young typist, clerical staff etc.

That applies to females as well as males.

I think the timing of his announcement was down to that documentary that aired recently about that other British male TV personality (can't remember his name). Schofield probably watched it and thought: "hey, this guy's life and career all worked out rather nicely after coming out", and is obviously hoping that he experiences similar good fortune.

So, there's stories brewing regarding the accusation he has only came out because he's been having an affair. Is the other person of legal age? Are they an adult?

If the answer is yes to both, what the heck is it got to do with anyone else? Whether it's morally right to have an affair behind your spouses back is a different point.

It is also a matter for the public when you are selling yourself as a family man. He was doing those toy and gadget programmes with his wife portraying an idyllic life while he had his Willy up someone's bum or vice versa.
