Welcome to Barcelonaton FC
I know there's already a thread about Pip but I wanna just pay my dues to him for his performance on Sunday.

He was a stand out player for us that day IMO and showed how
to be a true captain of a club.

Led the team. Kept them together.
Gee'd them up when they needed it.
Made the tackles that need to be done.
Kept an eye on Fellaini, kept him in check
Stepped up for a penalty and scored.

And just to sum it up straight after Jags slotted his penalty home and everyone ran over to him, Neville stayed and shook Scholes, Tevez and the rest of the Man Utd team before celebrating.

True professional. Hopefully turned the doubters about his capability of being a captain of our great club.

The best season he's had at the club.

Good post, mate. Captain Pip has had a great season and really showed fine leadership skills. As a player, he's been pretty damned good as well. Good bloke, top captain, fine player.

A true professional, a true gentleman, and an excellent footballer. As critical to Everton's development as David Moyes in my opinion.

Pen aside, i thought his performance yesterday was shocking. I think he forgot he was wearing blue and seemed to want to pass to his United mates all day long.
He was only outdone in the sh*te stakes by Baines who was truly shocking yesterday

Are you serious?

Very serious, i take it you dont agree then!

I don't agree with you. I think Phil Neville offers much more than his skills on the pitch. We all know he is limited, but he does a job, and more than anything he uses his experience to transfer that to his teammates, total motivator.

I cant add much more to what you have said their Ghost has you have said all that needs to be said about Neville. You are absolutely spot on.

Not at all!

I thought Baines was quality yesterday, looked a real attacking threat and was sound defensively. Neville lead by example and put in another solid display. Two very important players for us at the moment.

Tell me about a dangerous Baines cross? or any cross for that matter

Didnt he set up Vaughan that almost sealed the game?

Any threat we have comes from the left and he's a main part of that.

The right side is where nothing happened yesterday. Crosses were poor from everyone - Piennar and Ossie especially.

Admittedly his crossing wasn't as good as usual, but when Pienaar was tucking in and going central, Baines bombed up the wing to offer an outlet. He was one of our most effective players going forward.

that's harsh :o

overall it was a poor match, scrappy mostly.

if anything, i thot neville's strengths shone more in matches like this one.

His role has been and will be limited (as it is constrained by his abilities) to running down opponents on the ball, winning tackles, refraining from adventurous forms of passing, long throws, calming down younger more petulant players, rallying the troops and fronting up to unsavoury individuals such as a certain Mr Riley.

For my money, he's done more or less the same things in this match like other matches. I'd praised him for doing well enough, I do not believe he'll ever be a "carsley" or 'essien' or 'keane'.... but his performance in this match is nowhere near a 'shocking' level. No.

very harsh

I will give you that, but what use was his overlapping when he either put in a awful cross or took too long and didnt get 1 in at all?

I can see there exists an argument to say Pip was perhaps average yesterday, but to say he was shocking is plainly wrong. Okay, I watched by stream so can't comment on the most subtle aspects of the game, but I'm pretty confident i didn't miss any real blunders. Personally I think he lead well and was solid, although not spectacular. A seven out of 10 performance.
