Our record England International appearance holder (as an Everton player) and the only player to captain England whilst playing for the club. No mean feats and those who have ever criticised his leadership ability don't know what leadership is. It isn't just about shouting at people......

Will miss him when he's gone and would love to see him as a coach at the club in the future.

I'm not fussed if he plays in the Derby or not. He made our goal last season with a lung bursting run up the pitch and scored that volley a few years ago. At least he gives a sh1t.

That said, that's why you keep a reliable guy like him around for as long as we have because they can slot in and do a job when needed.
