Just seen that this has been added to the Sunderland ticket info on the official site:

We have received an allocation of 2624 tickets in the North stand Upper Tier.

Please note that the regulatory authority in Sunderland has approved a plan to limit the potential for persistent standing-related crowd problems for this game in response to persistent standing by Everton fans during the last fixture between the sides at the Stadium of Light.

This action involves taking the first three rows of the Strongbow North Stand, along with removing the end seats from each row. This has resulted in a slightly reduced overall capacity for Everton's travelling fans, although Sunderland AFC have worked with the regulatory authority to minimise this as much as possible.

But people still insist on standing. Tits.

I've only ever stood for the majority of a match once, and that was at OT this season because the guy in front of me wouldn't sit down. Felt really bad for the guy behind me and apologized to him afterwards. Should have got the steward involved really as everyone in my section was having a go at him. In his defense, his seat was right under a leaky bit of the roof and had some water on it, but you'd just take the wet bum for the sake of everyone else wouldn't you? It's common courtesy

Your right and it causes so much distress, especially if you take a small child or older person to the match, but i do think the authorities could look at safe standing areas for those that want to stand.

Not the point really is it. Less people are now able to go to the Sunderland game because people insist on standing.

No, people are unable to go to the Sunderland game because of the line the club has chosen to take on standing. Reducing the seating allocation because of a single game isn't a measured response.

One of the best matches I've been to was the fa cup game at Sunderland last year and everyone was stood up for the whole game. As people have said there should be the choice of a stand that you are allowed to stand in.

What you just said doesn't contradict what i said.

If people had all sat down, would we have had our allocation reduced ? No.

People insisted on standing, thus we now have less tickets.

Think you'll find it on every match ticket, persistent standing is not allowed, ie; it's against the rules. People broke the rules and the allocation has been reduced as a punishment.

That's it, black and white, no grey areas.

disgraceful would love these and Villa to go down no wonder the atmosphere's are ****e at matches now these fat cats want everyone sat eating prawn buttys rather than shouting and dancing and fist pumping.
