Yobo And Pienaar Recover
by Giulia Bould | Wednesday 7 October 2009, 12:17
Steven Pienaar and Joseph Yobo are both expected to make a return from injury against Wolves.
The duo have been sidelined through injury but, speaking exclusively to evertonTV, head physio Mick Rathbone is confident their recoveries are almost complete.
"Steven got headbutted on the inside of the knee against Portsmouth and it was just unfortunate it caught him right on the medial ligament!" he explained.
"He can use the exercise bike but it is pretty sore. I would though expect him to be there or thereabouts for the Wolves game."
Joseph Yobo also missed the matches with BATE Borisov and Stoke City because of a thigh strain suffered in training over in Minsk.
"It was so, so minor," explains Rathbone, "but if you do an injury like that the night before a game it doesn't give you a lot of time to recover.
"Joe has gone off with the Nigerian squad as they've got a very important game against Mozambique on Sunday and I think he will be fit for that."
Meanwhile, there's also good news for Phil Neville after a knee specialist confirmed it's unlikely the Blues captain will need surgery.
"The surgeon has seen Phil twice now. He was 90 percent certain he didn't need surgery on the first visit and now he is 99 percent certain Phil doesn't need an operation. You can never say never but the way Phil is going in his rehabilitation we're happy he is going to do well.
"He's been on the bike today and the cross skier and he is telling me he is running tomorrow which was a bit of a shock to me because that is not in the schedule! But he is doing well and we are really happy with him."

Also class to hear Pip deffo doesnt need surgery and should be running tommorrow.

Excellent news.

By the time they're back though we'll have another injury.

My bet's Saha :(

Though I have grown more fond of him post - Arteta's absence , Sunday showed me just how much of a miss that Peanut is to us . It's not just his personal performance which admittedly have improved immeasurably since Newcastle , but it's the relationship with Bainsey .
Our left side is the engine-room of the team - creatively speaking -. By far . To the extent that I can't recall of the top of my head 5 goals which have come from our right side with a Hibbo / Leon double act in the past 2 years , but can name maybe 15-20 from the other side .
The left allows us to run past the opposing right back , thus pulling out the right side Centre Half , getting to the by-line and crossing . This , then allows Timmy and Screech to come in late , and score .

On Sunday , try as he might , Billy was on another Planet from Bainsey . He was looking - with Bainsey on the ball - to break , inside , towards goal- inside the full back- , to the extent that Felli came out to double up with Bainsey , thereby weakening our aerial prowess .
This is not a slur on Billy , but rather a statement of how important a 5ft 5 South African now is to our immediate ambitions .
Just thought I'd say .
