Quick update.

I am having another crack at installing Bootcamp on my iMac. I realised before that spending 500 quid for games that are not going to be too taxing is probably overkill at the moment.

If Bootcamp works than I should have the power to play the games that I want.

Bootcamp isn't Emulation software, it's stand alone XP on a Mac hardware, so fingers crossed. Save myself a few quid if so.

Hope this thread helps others out though who are looking to move into the PC gaming market. And who knows, if I win the lottery I may buy that 4k beast.

I mentioned bootcamp to you in another thread.
Give it a whirl, and if things work out, join steam, give me your username, and I'll send you a game to start you off. (y)

I already have steam I think. So your able to share games between friends on there?

I have a spare copy of Half Life 2 which I can send to another Steam member apparantly.
I've not done it before, but the facility is there somewhere.

The Half Life series is one of the best games ever produced for pc.

A quick caveat about response times. Take them with a pinch of salt. There is no industry standard to measure response times and like contrast ratios, they are mainly a marketing tool. Each company measures them differently, and there are different types of response times out there.

There is black-to-white, which is easy for a LCD pixel to accomplish, so these times are much faster than gray-to-gray, which deal with the pixels changing shades.

Ideally, you want to see gray-to-gray times, and look at the monitor in action before you buy it. All the other stuff you can go with reviews and advice, but look at monitors and make sure it looks good to YOU. What looks good to me may be different for you.

eh?

Anyway, got Bootcamp working with XP SP3 - and it's meeting my gaming needs so far. Save myself a few quid.

May save up for a MBP.

Ok, translation of my post.....don't buy a monitor based on the big writing on the box....it is all gimmicky. Look at the monitor in action first (take a fast action movie) and make sure it looks good to you before you buy it.

If Ghost doesn't want the Half Life 2 game, I'll gladly offer it to someone else on the forum. (y)

Oh, and remember, today is the last day to get Stalker for only £3.50.

I'll have it mate. What do I need to do?

pm me your steam account user name (and stay online) and I'll try and work something out from there.
Not sent one before, but the facility is there somewhere. Tell your steam account to download to wherever you have windows I presume.

hi my self peter rose i live in NY...............
this is really a great forum i am newer..............I find it unbelievable that Windows 7 does not provide an EXACT phrase search capability. I have thousands and thousands of documents on my computer. Using your search engine DOES NOT return an exact phrase match. -- You can say, put it in single quotes, double quotes, or whatever you want, but it DOES NOT work. If you try to enter a phase with two words, you get all documents that contain both words. That IS NOT an exact phrase. THAT is an OR or possibly an AND search. I haven't gone through all my documents to be sure that both words are in the document.

My point is that hundreds of documents are returned and when you go into MS Word to look for the phrase, guess what? It can't find it. Both words may be in the document, but they are not together. --- Which in my feeble mind is the definition of an exact phrase search.

I have called technical support on several occasions and get the same results. NO ANSWERS! Maybe it will be in a future update. --- Well, how about NOW?
