Paul Power

The original Cuco Martina.

He played the first part of the season filling in at left back for ‘Psycho’ Pat Van Den Hauwe and it was a tribute to his ability that he slotted in seamlessly. ‘Psycho’ Pat was out until February 1987 and Power did not miss a game.

Do you just post the most inflammatory nonsense you can think of just for attention, or is it that you really don't know?

Paul Power was talented, strong, great reader of the game, intelligent, dependable, resilient, had great stamina and was a pro ahead of his time with the way he maintained his body and ability in his later years. He held his own in a great team and was flexible enough to play in pretty much any position with skill. I'm not going to deride an Everton player by describing Cuco in comparison, just to leave it with he was no Paul Power.

Crikey. Attention sought, attention gained.

Thanks for your excellent insight, Sir. To answer your question, I was 2 when he left Everton, so yes, "I don't know".

From his description, it very much sounds like we could do with a few Paul Powers in our team at the moment.

On the topic of Paul Power, I do have a memory of him scoring from a corner. He took the corner.

Hmm, you've been here almost a year and you don't know the guys who actually hand out the bans?

(Short answer. Me. I do. Take my post as your warning to keep on the topic)
Mine was on topic, both posts I made. First was a joke based on a line from the article that was linked to (hence: I read the entire article and found it a very good read), second was indicating that I took on board what the previous poster said and commented that we could do with some Paul Powers! Third one was defending my posts from an attack, and this fourth one is a clarification on all posts, and is still on topic because it's fascinating to hear from slightly older fans who know these players and can let us younger ones know just exactly who fired us to glory in the years just before we were old enought to really know the club. I believe you're a fair and fine gentleman who will see this for what it is and will realise it's all in good fun.
