Said before...they don't mention that our own fans split it up and walked Veira towards the tunnel so no one else could give him stick.

1 clown out of 40 thousand.
A different fan pushed him after and 2 others were fronting up to him before a guy with his kid on his shoulders came in. Could have been nuch worse

Imagine the team that you love, who you've been nervously watching for the past few months, come back from 2 down to dramatically win 3-2 in one of the most electric atmospheres you'll ever be lucky enough to be at....and rather than joyfully celebrate with everyone else, your instinct is to race over to the opposition manager who has done nothing to you, and verbally insult him and aggressively stick your middle finger in his face?!....what an ass....

hope he gets banned

Thought it was a fair reaction from Veira to be honest...unprovoked attack...embarrassing from that Everton fan, whose needlessly taken attention away from every other fan who was amazing
Yeah, deserves the kick fully and I wouldn’t personally punish him, but he will end up with ban since it’s not self defence I reckon?

I’m not excusing the yobs behaviour. The reality is though he’ll get away with it because no one knows who he is.

Vieira, because of the skill set he has, represents Crystal Palace as an institution. He is the most prominent representation of the club to the entire world. There’s a certain behavioural standard attached to that whether people like it or not, so the consequences for Vieira will be higher than the anonymous fan. Vieira knew all of that when taking the job, just as he knows that if he loses a few games he could be fired completely unfairly, that’s why the salary is so high.

It’s the same reason why MPs resign for offences that other people could carry out every weekend and get away with. Certain behaviours have to align to certain jobs and I doubt Steve Parish is sat there this morning pleased to see the manager he pays a lot of money to represent Crystal Palace losing his cool and kicking a fan.

PV will inwardly have the support of everyone at Palace including Steve Parish, I have no doubt about that. There may be some kind of token gesture made publically but the incident reflects worse on Everton than it does on Vieira/Palace IMO.

Pushed him away, then was surrounded and walked away.

Of course could've been worse. But it also was over quickly and there were more sensible fans in that moment than bellends.

I don't want to see him harshly punished, but if I was connected to Crystal Palace I'd be pretty disgusted. That is not the image any club would want to project. If Lampard kicked out at an opposition fan I'd be appalled. Sometimes the mask slips from the faces of "professionals" and it reveals a hidden truth. Think David Moyes's "slap" comments to a female reporter a few years back. Unedifying to say the least. Only this month we saw further evidence of Moyes's character when he disgraced himself with the ballboy in Frankfurt. I don't want to see Vieira punished, nor do I care if he is. But I certainly won't be going out of my way to defend him.

PV does so much community work around the club and has been such a calm and dignified presence all season (we’ve had a few of these late collapses as we lack experience, but he’s always taken it on the chin) that frankly, if someone wants to go up to him unprovoked and shout and swear in his face for about 5 seconds when there’s no other security or police in sight, I have zero issue with him reacting to it. Am not disgusted in the slightest.

I am sure you dont

Now do one you bellend.

Just as a side note to this, the way people are speaking about Viera on Twitter as if he’s Bruce Lee, Mike Tyson, and Jon Bones Jones all rolled into one almighty mullering machine is proper weird

As an opposition manager, amongst a hostile home fan base, he shouldnt have even been attempting to stroll accross the pitch unescorted anyway.

and there’s you now throwing insults on a forum ffs, but pontificating about Vieira’s behaviour when someone’s up in his face. Lol.
should he have been walking around unescorted amongst thousands of opposing fans? I dont think so. But he chose to.
