Pace...OR LACK OF IT.

That Beckford goal was class. His pace was something dangerous, not a world beater, but quick and had a habit of being in the right place. Could have done with him recently could we not..

Was thinking this myself, something must of happened for him to be shifted out so quickly, it's not like he had a bad season after scoring 8 in the league.

He was quick, had good movement and knew where the net was, bad move from Moyes in my opinion but I don't see what goes on in training.

I see Baines who is our paciest player is also now making noises that if we do not make champions league this season he will reconsider his future at the blues - paper talk but its very different from his past comments!

Fellaini is quick as well when he can be bothered to open up.

Is this a joke? He's so slow its painful. This for me is the biggest problem attacking wise in our team. Fellaini plays well for himself off the sstriker when we have all the ball because we work it out wide to Baines and in a packed defense his height and physicality are king and gets him goals. Jelavic suffers from this however as the build up play is just too slow. Away from home when we ever get on the break if the ball goes to Fellaini he can't do anything with it but lay it off. Compare this to a Rooney/Mata/Ozil number 10 who can turn and run onto the defense either socring or playing in a through ball the type of which Jelavic would thrive upon. I think moving Fellaini back just ahead of gibson (as he was in front of Neville for the WBA game) could work well again like it did at the back end of last season. That would allow any 3 of Pienaar, Mirallas, Naismith, Oviedo, Barkley, or Coleman to pplay in the attacking spots behind Jelavic. Osman would get the rest he badly needs and we might resist the temptation to look for Fellaini's head every attack.

Is this true? Crikey. Mind you, can't really blame him can we. A player of his quality wants to look back in later years at some medals or trophies rather than just a DVD compilation of some great free kicks.

Yet again we are seeing any early season promise eroded away and unless we really start winning games we could well end up without even a Europa place. For some years now people have said "if only Everton could play the first half of the season like they play the second". Usually, we kick off in January and build up some momentum but now we are seeing the true effects of a small squad in that we started well but just can't keep up the pace for more than half the season.

I'm pretty sure Coleman is faster than Baines, I think Coleman has to be one of the fastest in the premier league, he routinely runs around defenders in the box in a way that even Baines can't.

That is scary though, but I think it is just paper talk like you said. The scariest thing is, if Baines and Fellaini jump ship I don't see why Jagielka or Mirallas would want to stay around either.

Watch next time we get caught on the counter and he decides to chase someone down, doesn't happen often but when he goes he really is quick. Chased down Ashley Cole in full flow against Chelsea this season and Cole had a head start. Like I say its not often but when he goes he's quick.

Reckon Distin would give them all a run for their money
