Pace...OR LACK OF IT.

Player Valuation: £60m
More than anything it's what we lack in our team.
Baines and Coleman are probably the only two that have real pace.
Mirallas probably as well although he seems to me to be more a clever footballer than a speed merchant.

Gibson,Osman,Jelavis,Pienaar,Hitzleberger,Neville and even Fellaini are not players with pace and sometimes we can look slow and static against a team that is defending solidly against us.

In the summer ,I would dearly love to see the addition of players that are genuinely fast.

I was saying this to my dad yesterday. If you look at the side the only player with genuine pace is Mirallas. When going forward we look laboured and have no real penetration.

Oviedo and Mirallas both have pace, unfortunately they have rarely been able to show it because without Gibson our counter attacks are non existant. He's the only midfielder player who can ping a ball down the pitch with any consistency.

It also doesn't help that we always have everybody back for a corner. 'Oh 2-0 down with twenty minutes left, best get everybody back for a corner and protect the defeat'

Jags is pretty quick, doesn't help with going forward though.

When we had Royston you could see the panic on teams faces when he put his foot down. We need someone like that again (minus the drink/drug/attitude problems)

We have 1 quick player and 1 strong player in our midfield and attack, Mirallas and Felli, everyone else is just... I dont know? Clever? Needs sorting out, we need a midfield enforcer desperately

it also doesn't help when our pace attacker (who's coming back from injury) has to be taken off after 65-70 mins, and instead replacing him with the obvious solution oviedo (more pace) - we revert to one of our slowest in naismith.

We were never going to ped back a two goal lead at old trafford, with not one of those pace players listed above on the pitch and only one striker.

I'm struggling to remember Moyes buying anyone (not a defender) with genuine pace or setting the side up to use it, in his 10 years in charge.

If Felli goes in the Summer which seems very likely, I'd love Moyes to use the money to bring in two attacking wide players with genuine pace and a goal threat.

drenthe, donovan, johnson, mirallas, oviedo. But yeah, we do seem to play predominantly down the left with the exception of this season when coleman's been playing

Just about every premiership player is quick.but we are talking about players that are quick by premiership standards.
Players that have defenders struggling to get back when they break with the ball.Very few of our midfielders have that extra yard of pace.

Players who are both fast and technically excellent come at a cost which we can't afford - so Moyes tends to go for technical players rather than fast players.

Pienaar is the worst one for me.

When he's not linking up with Baines through clever play he just kills our attacks with his lack of pace.

Another problem for me is ridiculous passing back of the ball, and then between central defenders a few times followed by a big punt to nobody. Example: Neville at right back has loads of space in front of him, but decides to turn and pass it back to Jagielka, who in turn knocks it on to Heitinga/Distin. Nobody is on for the pass so it goes back to Jagielka who, due to a lack of options/confidence to try a decent pass, smashes it forwards either out of play or to nobody.

Works me up like nothing else, especially when we're losing or chasing a goal.
