The rain, it raineth every day
A long thread on the impact of clubs vis a vis the overseas money tree telly rights. I have no idea how crap we're doing ; I'll leave it to better people than I.

I think he means 2019/20.

Fairly similar to the £ per place under the current domestic rights deal IINM

£1.4m per place seems fair enough to me.

Mo money mo problems.

Christ this league is disgusting.

Sorry, it’s us glory-hunting Yanks ruining football. I urge my fellow Americans to stop watching Everton, and instead sit quietly in our homes Saturday and Sunday mornings to think about how we have desecrated the beautiful game with our money.

If there was some kind of salary structure this would make sense. But with all the extra money able to be poured straight into the team this is from a competitive standpoint really bad and a pathway to having a super boring league. Honestly if the top 6 can run themselves in even a semi efficient manner they are 5 years from never being caught. Good thing United, Chelsea and Arsenal don't look like doing that.

A planned bigger difference in wealth between haves and have not.

Keep those saleable brands at the top. "Good" for the cash collectors, bad for sporting competition.

Well obviously this is a good thing so those poor poor clubs that are living a hand to mouth existence at the top of the league can get a few more quid to pay for the bare essentials.

Like they don't already have natural benefits from being at the top, bigger sponsorship deals and more foreign fans buying merchandise etc. If anything it should work the other way around to allow other clubs to be able to try and catch up.

Sickening to think that there are some big clubs in the lower divisions that are unlikely to ever get back to the premiership, let alone challenge for a title, unless the whole system is given an enema. Which it badly needs to flush out the turds hell bent on keeping the status quo and ruining competition.

I'm not sure I understand why TV revenue isn't split evenly. I get the bigger clubs are a draw, but it's the collective product that makes it the most popular league in the US atleast.

La Liga, Serie A can't get a good deal here because the leagues are crap. I'm surprised the Bundesliga has a decent TV deal here. You can't find La Liga on TV here unless you have some ridiculous cable package.

Greed and selfish are the words, trying to make sure that clubs dont catch up to the mighty 6.

They don't need the extra money, have you seen how much extra they earn from sponsors and shirt sales. It's just so they stop the other clubs from earning a good wedge to catch up and pay top wages.

These mighty 6 needs these other clubs to form a league.

Serie A is on ESPN+ now but tbh I've only watched maybe 10 games last season. It isn't the most thrilling league.

I agree. I have ESPN+ aswell, I dont know the details but I think the EPL NBC broadcast rights had to go for way more and I even think the Bundesliga on Fox are better. I know ESPN is investing a lot in the streaming service but I can't see serie A getting a lot of money for it.

No I think they kind of just pick off all the cheaper soccer leagues they can get to build what they offer but don't spend a lot doing it. Only the PL and CL are big time here. Even the Bundesliga rights have to be considerably less. ESPN+ getting the FA Cup was genius because now all the PL fans who want to watch those weekends have to get the service.

Not to mention the championship. For the last few weeks of the season it is a great move by them.
