Hoping Utd win the Carling Cup, not because the Uefa place will switch to the league - but it'll keep Spurs out of Europe.

FA Cup's different, losing finalist gets the European spot if the winner's are already qualified.

FA Cup's not beyond us and failing that, 4th-6th in the league is well within our grasp.

I think I remember that was also changed this year, but as Mikels Goat says, there was a long discussion about this a while back where that also came up.

Quite like that rule the way it was, it really rewards clubs in the Championship that've done so well to get that far, like Millwall a couple years back, not to mention the teams that need that extra push to make top half of the table.

I'm a bit confused by this bit:

Do the associations ranked 1-6 get the lower amounts or is that just a misprint?
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/UEFA_coefficients

We are ranked number 1 so it looks like we 3 straight into the champs league and 1 who has to qualify (i guess the top 3 and 4th place in premier league).

And we get 2 in qulaifying 4th round of Europa Cup and 1 in 3rd Qualifying round.

Looks like Countries ranked 7-9 get extra Europa places but less Champions League places.

So going by that its FA cup, League cup and 5th in the league who get Europa League qualification.

Unless the 2 cup winners have already qualified via the league then it goes to 6th and 7th in the league.

But who [Poor language removed] knows cause they dont make it bloody simple do they!

Once we get past the next few games, we look like weve played our toughest games (exept UTD on 2nd Feb, and Chelski after that depending on the FA). Villa and Arsenal have tougher runs in and Europe to fight in aswell.

I reckon this year we have got a good crack at the TOP 4, probably more than at any other year in the PL.

What do you think of our chances?

i think we have been awesome since we played villa , and we look good for 6th place atleast (massive massive credit to moyes and the lads for turning there bad start around- almost a miracle turnaround)

we have had it bad with results and injuries but have still bounced back.
we still have major injury problems but still look one of the most inform teams and one of the strongest bonded squads.

our injured players will come back , the summer signings will settle and bond even more.so we can only get better.(then again this is football , so who knows)

our next few games are very interesting aswell.
if we beat liverpool we are still within touching distance of 4th and 5th.
a result against arsenal and we are in direct competion for 4th and 5th.
if we get a good result against utd , then we are right in the thick of it and any team in the top 6 can get the prem title as far as im concerned.

then if you look at our remaining games we probably have the easiest run in of the top 6 with only chelsea and villa left to play (both away)
good results here ? potential 3rd and touching distance of 1st and 2nd ?

obviously there are no easy games in the prem but our other remaining fixtures dont look too bad at all.

if our lads want success this year , they have given themselves every chance to earn it.if we fail and only finish 6th , well thats a lot better than how we were going to do earlier on in the season.

i have to say , the top and the bottom of the league means this is a fascinating season.
