Out of Contract Players - Summer 2016.

Should all go.

As @bluestevon wrote Gibson is now miraculously fit just in time for a new contract...

I even started a thread saying that these guys should all be let go and was shouted down as they are squad players apparently (yet as best minimal contribution at best).

As others have said, it would be madness to keep them when the wages could go on players who can actually benefit us.

It's a valid question mate - Kone could very easily have been on that list and look at him now.

Having said that his contract extension doesn't bode well for the lads above.
Good point about Kone mate.

I had him down as a total camel, pun very much intended.

I always hoped Pienaar would cone good again. I think we're all resigned to Hibbo never scoring in a competitive game.

Hibbert
Osman
Pienaar
Gibson
Oviedo

Will they be missed?

Can't see them all being released mate. I'm guessing two or three of them will be in next season's squad.

Hibbo and Pienaar probably will be released.

Not sure about Osman. He might get another year. Gibson will probably get an extension too.

What happens with Oviedo will depend on what happens with Garbutt. If Garbutt's in next season's squad then it's probably goodbye Bryan, but my gut reaction is that Oviedo will get a new contract.

I think there'll need to be a huge turn around in Pienaars fitness for him to get an extension to be honest, but like you say all the other with the exception of Hibbert are likely to get new deals.
Yeah Pienaar hasn't played for ages so remains to be seen if he can prove he still is a useful squad member.

People forget that we need an actual squad. If we want European football next season then we need a big squad, which includes maybe average players who don't expect to play every week.

They all need to be released, and I find it baffling that anyone would advocate wasting further millions of pounds on these people. Not only that, but we supposedly have ambitions of reaching the top four, and this lot were way below that standard five years ago, never mind now. The standard of club that will show interest in these players will tell you everything, they will all be struggling bottom half clubs if they are lucky, the rest are facing retirement.

I wouldn't blame Martinez if he decided to just use the kids for emergencies instead of this lot.

Considering how much money they must cost the club per minute on the pitch, I can't imagine it wouldn't be worth the risk.

I'd probably end up keeping Gibson and Oviedo, though.

.....surprised about Gibson. In light of his injury record and misdemeanours I wouldn't be in a rush to extend his contract. Indeed, there is an argument to suggest monies could be better spent by not extending deals for any of these but we would need to replace.
