Isn't too bad. Discuss.

---------------Howard-----------------

Hettinga----Jags-----Distin------Baines-

Pienaar----Arteta----Cahill------Billy-----

---------------Yakubu/Saha------------

Subs:
Fellaini
Yobo
Jo
Vaughan
Hibbo
Osman

Although I haven't seen either of Hettinga or Billy play, Moyes must have bought them to be in our first 11 so that's why i put them in.

Think that's our strongest team and the one that Moyes will most likely go with once everyone is fit (we all know he likes 4-5-1)

Just thought I'd semi-hijack this thread to make a point I've been mulling over for a while. If you look at almost any of the line-ups that have been suggested recently (and I'll repeat the original one mentioned on this thread because it's fairly close to my preferred option):

---------------Howard-----------------

Hettinga----Jags-----Distin------Baines-

--------------Neville/Rodwell------------

Pienaar----Arteta----Cahill------Billy-----

---------------Yakubu/Saha------------

you look at it and there's no obvious weak area or player who needs replacing. In virtually all the modern era of Everton, there have been multiple weaknesses, from the time when Moyes joined, and the team consisted on a handful of adequate players and a lot of dross, through to last season when the right side was horribly ineffective most of the time.

Now, you look at the first 11 above for example, and there's no area that obviously will let us down, or is occupied by a player just doing his best to 'do a job'. Maybe you'd want to replace Neville/Rodwell with an experienced, tough-tackling, athletic powerhouse who also has a creative side, but that's probably nit-picking. I'm not saying we're perfect, and I know we could do with more depth, but it's a nice change to be able to line up our first 11 against ANY other premiership team and be comfortable that we can realistically try to match them in all areas.

Yobo plays right centre back, mate.

Not a fan of your fellow Dutchman?

I know, Yobo plays at the right of defence, but didn't pay attention to it really, when submitting my team. My mistake.

No, to be honest, I think it has been a strange purchase by Moyes. All my mates, asked me why Everton did sign Heitinga, as he's not really rated over here in Holland. Not that he's totally crap, but he does have a fair few shortcomings. He's a very good passer, a strong header of the ball and physically strong. Don't think he's that strong defensively though and also not the best tackler. Haven't followed him since he was transferred to Atletico and hope he has become a more complete player during that time and I'm proven completely wrong in the end.

A good passer is what we need. I actually like your formation. 2 deep midfielder spraying passes all over the pitch. AC Milan uses this formation effectively during their CL winning season. A combination of banega and arteta will be perfect but alas...
Arteta and Heitinga will do fine, me think.

Isn't he the starting RB for Clockwork Orange?
