I reiterate, if you are willing to contribute consistently then let D/D know. Match previews and reviews, squad articles, history articles, savory food reviews etc.

There's no harm in letting them know and see what they say.

Lots of benefits and yes, you can call that azul one bad blert which is clearly true.

If you're trying to seduce me then it's defo working.

You can kiss my hand if you like.

He only gave you a little 'g' though.

What do we reckon? Do we have enough regular posters to run a front-end site like ToffeeWeb? Defo think we need to have the counter to their negativity, and we certainly have the people to do it.

I'll be up for helping the man with the designs and build of it, but finances are obviously the sticking issue.

I can't agree with your view that Toffeeweb is "negative", what ever that means. Whenever there's a point of conflagration the debate can quickly become polarised, just the same as here & probably most other sites. If you feel there's an imbalance, perhaps you should post your "positive" views to redress the balance.

You don't think ToffeeWeb have an agenda? You don't think that Tony Marsh and Michael Kendrick are melts?

Ok.

As BB says you have to ask what the costs/benefits are. Simply building the tools is quite straightforward. I mean the latest vBulletin has tools for blogs and other content so setting it up is the easy part.

Getting people to use it is the difficult part. That involves work from D/D/whoever. Making sure the content is the right quality requires work. We're all hobbyists here and the club have made it very clear that they don't want to work with fan sites, much less compensate them for the time they put into helping the club out.

So what's the motivation for Danny to do this?

..that and the politics of it. I just think that the club's stance is pure madness. Even Apple don't treat their fanboys so badly (except when those fanboys get an exclusive).

Taking that away, I think that we probably would have difficulites agreeing on the politics. Toffeeweb has an agenda. It has some great writers, but spends its time up its arse being anti this and anti that.

In my view, we have enough "issues" with the forum as it is. Imagine if the club came up with another Kirkby? A site, while a good idea, would only compound our division on issues such as this.

ToffeeWeb - Season 2009-10 - Columns

Oh aye, definitely.

I tried posting a reply and it was placed up heavily edited, then just disappeared altogether. There was nothing in there that broke forum rules only something like "Love Toffeeweb, hate Everton" which is not far from the truth.

The only "agenda" I'm aware of is to provide an excellent site for Evertonians to use - what agenda do you think they have? What is the GOT agenda? I've always just seen these sites as opportunities for Evertonians to exchange views & information.

I don't know either Tony Marsh or Michael Kenrick (I assume that's who you mean), but I don't feel the need to insult them just because I don't agree with everything they post - any more than I'd feel the need to insult you for the same reason. From what I've read they seem to be suffering under the illusion that they're right, & I'd make the same criticism of those diametrically opposed to them (of which there are plenty posting on the site).

However, the site should not be judged by the contributions of just 2 people - I'd recommend the match reports from Ken Buckley for example (if he has an agenda it seems to be merely to present an accurate & unbiased report with a minimal portion of opinion on the side) & he is not alone in bringing a well-balanced perspective.

I'm glad you agree.

That piece was a classic example of making a point in the wrong way at the wrong time. It's the sort of debate that quickly polarises & degenerates into the "Moyes OUT Brigade" claiming that any decent performances are despite Moyes not because of him in any way & the "Moyes Apologists" being accused of insisting Moyes be given credit for our successes & then making all sorts of excuses as to why he shouldn't be held responsible for any failures.

It seems clear to me that the majority of reasonable posters, both on TW & GOT, are in the middle ground where there is much to praise Moyes for but that doesn't exempt him from criticism where it's due.

I'm fairly sure Tony Marsh doesn't exist. He's just made up to provoke responses.

I gave up going on ToffeePleb a while back. It's rather depressing.

Fair point there Dennis.

That article was horrendous from him, and even worse him trying to defend it and editing others posts that were trying to defend it.

The "Moyes Apologist" tag is conclusive proof of him being a massive belter. I'm not sure he's even a blue.

Lyndon wrote a good, balanced article counter balancing it today somewhat but receiving hardly any responses.

It's already had 47 responses, pretty unanimous in their appreciation of Lyndon's more bablanced response & generally quite damning of Michael's post, particularly it's tone. Quite right too. Interestingly, I note that a number of the points we're discussing about TW are also raised in the responses to Lyndon's post.
