2017/18 Oumar Niasse

I guess that's the issue though - if there's a firm offer on the table now and we recoup most of our money for a player who, lets face it, hasn't been fancied by the current or former manager, then it makes sense to accept. Now that Tosun has been signed Oumar will know he'll get next to no game time, with DCL seemingly next in the pecking order.

The offer from whichever club may not be there in July.
That is true, but then we don't have to sell just to get the best deal all the time without going backwards.

It suggests if there is any chance he goes that the club have commited too much in him leaving that they won't reverse that mind set. So despite getting the chance and scoring for the team, people upstairs are too far gone in trying to sell him that they won't go back on that now.

That's probably true. We were keen to get rid off him in August, only for the Palace transfer to be called off, presumably coz of Giroud's missus not liking the glitz and glamour of Liverpool.

While im not his biggest fan, I do agree, his goalscoring record is very good and we should DEFO be rinsing somebody for 20m in this market.

We are crap at this, aren't we? Three teams interested, start a bidding war? Surely? We let barkley and mirallas go within seconds, yet we take over a week ourselves to conclude a deal when buying.

So what if our stinking form (Spurs will be 4th lost on the bounce and the fans will def start turning on Allardyce) continues and Tosun doesn't hit the ground running? Proven that we cannot rely on DCL for goals. We going back to Sigurdsson up front? Incredibly dangerous seeing as, mathetmatically at least, we could be back in the relegation zone within the next three games.

That's the attitude Human,

However, you forgot to shout "WE'RE DOOOMED!" and run around iwaving your arms in a panic.

I think I would rather see DCL go out on loan and keep Niasse in support.
I do believe with Bolasie improving fitness, Sigurdson improving overall and SA appears to be taking the shackles off, Niassie will score goals if fed good balls.

If we are selling him and we are using the money to upgrade, I have no issues as simply that is football and we need to improve the quality in our squad.

Will always remember his important goals at a time we were spiralling down the league, but his proffesional when being bullied and made an outcast by RK will always stand out

The fans have got to see the bigger picture though haven't they - but they won't. Tosun isn't the answer - we still need bolstering in other positions to remain competitive in the top half / or survive based on how the second half of the season goes.

Tosun is coming into a league he's never played in, and with a team that's struggling to register shots on target. We aren't great at providing service to strikers, and that's partially down to our formation having to remain with two CDMs so our back 4 don't get overrun. It's a difficult ask for any striker to come in and turn the world around - but the probability is that he's going to need a good few games to get up to Premier League speed.

He deserves huge credit for that but he doesn't get it because his overall performance can be poor at times like when he started against Utd and Liv.
Other clubs recognise what he brings though that's why several lower placed ones are interested. No clubs are lining up for DCL at the mo because he provides so little goal threat which begs the question why he's got so much more playing time than Oumar.

Everyone who criticised him, always states the liverpool match. The match that we set up with him on the left wing, and with 10 men behind the ball. What do you expect from him in that situation? To get the ball at our own box, run the length of the pitch and score? People wanted him to fail so that they weren’t proved wrong about him and that’s the match they have picked. The United game was odd, because second half they were all over us and we didn’t create a lot. He missed a header that was a golden opportunity but I’ve seen rooney, and drogba, lukaku, Ibra and Aguero etc all miss chances like that, and they are all much better technically than Niasse. I just think he deserves more credit then he gets. And really hope we keep him for 6 months more.

We only have league left so if he goes its ok with me. What a person this lad. Never gives up. But nowhere good enough if we want to break top 6 next year which should be the goal in everyones mind.

I agree. Niasse is a miles better option as an out-and-out striker than DCL. If we had the players - which is surely the aim - he'd score goals. He's not a technically great footballer, but his unorthodox style does cause problems. And let's not forget for several of his goals he's shown superb composure, which DCL severely lacks. His assist for Gueye's recent goal also showed a willingness to work for the greater good of the team instead of him attempting to do it all himself.

Niasse shouldn't be starting games for a team with top 4 aspirations, but we won't be that team for at least several years as the last transfer window set us back years. But while we have zero other options, unless a fantastic striker can be brought in NOW, imo Niasse should stay. I'd feel more comfortable with us having Tosun plus somebody like Giroud (I know not happening, but somebody similar and proven) plus DCL on the bench, than just Tosun and DCL.

If we have three teams interested now we'll surely have takers for Niasse in the summer too. I know he's not brilliant, but his attitude is great and surely infectious, plus he does score goals when presented with the chance. It's not his fault the players behind him cannot play a forwards pass.
