With City - & possibly Chelsea - spending £100 million on one player, it just shows that FFP was dead in the water a long time ago.

The level playing field that once existed in football is sadly no more.

I agree, not sure Pirlo is who comes to mind though. If we're doing the wild comparisons maybe Iniesta back when he still played on the left some? I don't know and it doesn't matter so much but I do find it wild that people seemingly don't rate him at all.

A lot of the bigger clubs probably wouldn't baulk at what it may cost to bring him in either because of the money he would generate through shirt sales, merchandise etc.

Bit of a myth this isn't it? Kit manufacturers take like 90% of the profits from any sales, be amazed if any clubs make more than a few million

That was true though, he did but then Barca revoked it because they couldn’t get the figures to work. He agreed a 5 year extension

The financial package is crazy for Haaland, massive signing on fee, 500k wages, and £ 20 million each for Raiola and Haaland's Dad.

Chelsea tried to get the jump start for him before his clause kicks in next summer, they tried to get a deal, wages agreed , fee very close, but Raiola was making it difficult, as he wants the deal done next summer with more clubs involved increasing his agent commission with clubs more desperate.

It was all agreed, 5 year deal, paid for 2 years, then Barca had to withdraw it and release him because even at them terms they still couldn’t afford it
