Apparently he wanted to stay. Previously at Chelsea he was in the group that trained away from the first team as surplus to requirements. Injuries to a couple of CB’s mean he is required now, so they say. They must have about 10 half decent CB’s in their books anyway. Part of me wonders whether it’s leverage in a deal to sign Mark Guehi who they have been linked with.
Surely if a player wants to stay, he just stays? Seems bonkers otherwise.
