I'd like to think anyone that costs £40m smackeroos they would hit the ground running, considering when you look at the starts players like Delap, Wan Bissaka, N'Diaye etc have made

I'd say most of those have had a successful start to the season. Some haven't, but were equally insanely overpriced (Kilman, Zirkzee etc.)

What's your criteria for hitting the ground running? Joao Neves is a deep lying midfielder and a teenager and has 2 goals and 6 assists in 13 games in the French league. What were you expecting from him?

Michael Olise 5 goals and 5 assists in the German league in 13 games, 2 goals in 5 in the CL.

Julian Alvarez 5 goals and 2 assists in 15 La Liga games, 3 goals in 5 in the CL.

Dani Olmo 5 goals in 9 in La Liga, 1 in 3 in the CL.

Solanke 5 goals and 2 assists in 12 PL games

Gallagher is more defensive so not the goal/assist type but widely praised so far in Madrid, very popular with Atletico fans

Just because other players have better records, doesn't mean their own record is bad. In terms of "hitting the ground running" you can't really ask for much more. And as others have said we're only 4 months into the season. Way too early to judge the success of a signing.
