Maybe as a left winger though and not a full back/wing back.

Clubs are paying what they feel the players are worth. Good on Leeds if they’re mugging them off; wish we could learn how to do a bit of that. Your framing of it as a Le Tissier style conspiracy had me uneasy, but I appreciate the clarification.

He is 24 and his direct left sided squad utility player competition is Jeffrey Schluup who is coming up 32, so some squad planning going on. Has been a crock, but, if over his injury issues, worth a punt .
