By the way for all the crap given to Walsh he did a good job on the young player front. DCL the highlight but a few others sold for good money and one in Vlasic who would have been pretty handy had we shown the patience with him that we did with Dom.

Honestly I couldn't see Barkley being worse than Gomes in that current role. That's not to say I'd want us signing Barkley if we were actively looking for a replacement.

This will be the kiss of death I suppose, but that Villa side should be pretty good assuming Watkins can be an actual threat up top and the backline can be even the 15th best in the division. McGinn, Ross and Grealish is pretty handy.

Barkley is twice the player Gomes is.

I dont like Barkley after the way he screwed us over but atleast the lad can score and assist.

Gomes is a decent player but for me doesnt do enough in general to justify him playing every week.

Doesn't score, assist, tackle, not got the pace to defensively cover Doucoure marauding forward etc.
