Osman was MOTM day, without a doubt.

Had one of his bi-annual belters today.

Sod it, i'd rather have an inconsistent player than no player at all.

He usually goes on a 3-4 match run of sheer excellent, stand up sir!!

Disagree.

Arteta was by far the stand out person. Tackling scrapping passing running.

That was the Arteta we know and love today.

did well osman today, think he gets unfair abuse myself at times, unlucky with a few chances he had today.

I completely agree. He's hard working, is technically gifted and is miles better than most "squad players" in the league.
His problems are mostly genetic, not quite big enough, not strong enough and not fast enough - nothing he can do about that stuff. The other issue is he's constantly played out of position. His best work comes from being in the middle when the game's tight. Plus if referee's gave him the same sort of protection they used to give Pienaar, maybe the boo boys would get off his case.

Prepare me to blow your mind on the Arteta thing - Felli was carrying an injury from the start today and Arteta played the more forward role of the two for a change. Next thing you know, Arteta puts in a good performance.
Coincidence? Not for me it wasn't.

Leon was definitely a lot more involved today, far from ineffective & a litle unlucky not to get a goal on a couple of occasions in the 2nd half. He didn't have to be A1 considering that Sunderland were possibly worse than the side they brought to Goodison last January. I'll always stick up for Ossie as he plays much of his footie for us out of position. It would be great though to see another performance like the one he gave at Villa 4 or 5 years ago in the upcoming games but well done to him all the same today.

Well Well Well on to Mikel glad he was motivated today to the level I thought he needed to be after showing glimpses he was getting his mojo back last week. Some of his play today was sublime & a joy to see him running with the ball & showing for it too much more often. The space he had at times did help a lot to be fair.

Ossie ran him close for MOM for sure imo, but even though we know Mikel is capable of such performances at his very best, he still gets my vote, as even a few weeks back he looked so far off the pace that it did have some folk doubting the decision to give him his hefty pay packet. So a mixture of relief & great pleasure to witness Mikel come really close to his best play for us for some time. So well done again to Ossie but Mikel just had that little extra spark that's been largely missing from his play & it gave us the impetus to consolidate our lead in the 2nd half.

Can people not appreciate more than one player can have a very good game? Both Osman and Arteta were excellent today. They have received much warranted criticism on here in the past, and I'm no Osman lover either but they both had great games today. They really got us playing some good stuff today, admittedly helped by a poor Sunderland performance.

Ossie is a fantastic squad player for exactly the reason we saw today. I've never understood the haters. When played in position (i.e. central rather than on the wing) he's very effective and one of our best technical players with the ball at this feet.

He's never going to be a star because he can be knocked off the ball too easily, he's just not physical enough. He's also not the paciest in the world. But he does a job, and he's capable of having a real belter once in a while. Plus he's one of ours.
