OSMAN IN THE ENGLAND SQUAD

Bizarre.

Hope he gets a cap but it's a good five years too late!!!

Fair play to Hodgson for having the balls to recognise him.

Find it a bit bizarre myself, he's clearly on the decline as a footballer and has been for a good while now. Still, I am made up for him because seeing all other **** players get caps when he hasn't actually been that bad a player for us must have been sickening. He's deserved a cap over the last few years, so better late than never. A good boost before the weekend.

Why is the general consensus one of befuddlement? Eager surprise maybe, but not confusion: he has been utter quality this season, and pisses all over dross like Henderson, Carrick, Cleverely, Shelvey, Rodwell, Livermore, Milner, Barry, Lallana.

It's his age really. He's 31. He should have been in the squad years ago but I think even Ossie must have thought his chance had gone.

No surprise at all on ability etc.

Yeah. I do agree. That's why I'm really chuffed for him, because given the traditional England setup, it is a huge surprise. But I'm not shocked, because he has been playing so well its impossible to ignore.

It's still a bit bizarre, on one hand, you have to admit...mainly because of age. Obviously he's not ancient, you just usually don't see a call-up this late especially after being looked over for so many years. Congrats though, you little Turkish delight.

Daily Mail reports the squad thusly:
Tom Cleverley (Manchester United), Steven Gerrard (Liverpool), Aaron Lennon (Tottenham Hotspur), Leon Osman (Everton), Jonjo Shelvey (Liverpool), Raheem Sterling (Liverpool), Theo Walcott (Arsenal), Jack Wilshere (Arsenal), Ashley Young (Manchester United).

Hardly a central midfielder in sight. I think he's in with a real chance of making his debut alongside Gerrard in midfield. I'm getting excited just typing it. Well in Leon.
