Are they though ? Joelinton was I thought their best player and he’s basically a rugby league forward. Bundles and barges his way through with power and some pace but not bags of skill . The other two I’ll give you .

Not looking to bash the manager but they certainly seemed better organised
Mate in my extremely humble opinion that Tonali and Gummyrice are streets ahead of our CMs...that Joelinton is a yard dog.

Thought he did well yesterday, Doucoure was all over the place and McNeil didn't really provide them with any support at all.
Was scratching my head when Mangala was taken off and not Doucoure. Mangala and Gueye feels like a much more composed midfield that can pass the ball up the pitch to a forward. Doucoure may be perceived as more of a goal threat but he is MUCH more likely to give the ball away in horrible positions or squander a budding attack in promising ones

I totally agree on both assessments , I did however think joelinton was probably their most dangerous player yesterday despite that Like I said he didn’t really look like a top level footballer.

I think they’ve got a better midfield but I do think they looked better organised

Their manager has their team playing the right way, if Newcastle get rid of Eddie Howe i would take him tomorrow for us. Wasn't sure of him at Bournemouth, they let in far too many goals, but played nice footy, but with better players and more resource you can see the difference.

He's more than competent with the ball at his feet. The physical limitations are obvious, and why he was available, but he certainly adds something to the team that no one else in the squad can.

….the way Joelinton ran past him despite giving him a yard start will stick in my memory. He’s not Andre Gomes slow but that moment won’t be lost on future opponents.
