Ordering from your seat

I used to be a bit of a stadia nerd back in the days when I was studying that kind of thing and remember getting all excited by the Docklands stadium down in Australia because they had all sorts of wizardry built into the seats, so you could order from the bar, buy tickets for the next match, get commentary, view highlights/replays, place bets etc. all from your seat.

All in all some pretty awesome stuff. I'm not as into it nowadays but that kind of thing doesn't seem to have taken off, at least not in this country.

Anyway, reason for the post was this blog by Patricia Seybold about her experience at the new terminal at JFK.

Outside Innovation: New Experience at JetBlue's New Terminal 5 at JFK

Looks like they have some fantastic features in there that really should be in place in the new Everton stadium.

I'm sure there are many of you that have been to some of the newer/better grounds around the world. What are some examples of great facilities you've seen?

It was on that Everton Questionnaire about Ordering from seats wasnt it? Ive been to better facilitated stadiums...But i doubt our new stadium would be much better than Goodison, only stricter no smoking toilets.

i went to the sydney football stadium (now renamed i think) about 15years ago and was amazed at how good it was compared to our football grounds at that time, it's prob a bit of a dinosaur now tbh.

the gadget show did a feature in oslo where 1 used cash and the other paid for things via mobile phone, the 1 with cash was struggling whereas the 1 with the phone was breezing along.

not arsed about having all the gimmicks for every seat tbh, just agreat view, great atmosphere and a great team.

The only thing i would like to see is being able to order lapdances @ halftime, would make that 20minutes fly by and i think the club would make decent money. FFS sort it out BK!

A lot of that is still techno-nerd stuff, though. They've had "pay for your train tickets/parking/cinema tickets via mobile phone/SMS" here for years and I doubt more than 1% ever uses it.

Getting a website (including e-commerce and mobile) that functions correctly would be a start into this brave new EFC world.

Not really the same though as paying for stuff over the phone isn't very convenient. Being able to order food/whatever from your seat beats waiting in a queue for it. Likewise being able to place a bet and so on. If this sort of thing is in place in one of the biggest airports in the world it can't be too left field. I appreciate that it may be rare in the football world but whilst the club can't compete financially there's no reason why it can't compete intellectually.

But the problem is that people start fannying about with that stuff because it's trendy when the the most basic facilities aren't even in place. I don't care about Desktop Davey, I want a ticketing system that works. I don't care about ordering food from my seat, I want a decent toilet block. I don't care about placing a bet from my seat arm, I could do with the pillar being moved from directly in front of me.

"...so you could order from the bar, buy tickets for the next match, get commentary, view highlights/replays, place bets etc. all from your seat."

There's nothing like the authentic matchday atmosphere is there?

The service is absolutely terrible queuing up normally, so i dread to think what would happen when you get 10,000 people ordering food from their seats.

I also don't think Kenwright has even enough money to consider it.

It would be a good idea for executive areas. I'd hate it if it was in the what turned out to be the new Gwladys Street. You're trying to get the chants going and the people next to you are too busy trying to order their pizza rather than joining in.
