We should be proud of an Everton that is run properly.

Or, to be more realistic...I'm glad that we "lucked out" and had a chairman and board who couldn't fund the nonsense of the last 10 years because, and make no mistake here...if they could have, they would have. Rare is the supporter or manager who begs for financial prudence...so don't even go there.

We are where we are out of necessity, not fantastic board level management...

Is your avatar pic from Man som hatar kvinnor?

Good books, haven't seen the film yet, though I certainly will.

No idea Heats but it could be if it's enough to make you ask. I found it somewhere on the 'net last night lookin' for ideas for the other half as she wants another tatt.

I had one of those "whaaaatt the f*****ck" moments when it came up because, apart from the back tatt and the one on the hand it's her, bang on. So, I had to use it...it's as close as I'll get unless I want to be a eunuch with a Columbian neck tie.

It's a swedish book. They made a film of it recently 'The girl with the dragon tattoo'.

And the other half looks like that? You're one lucky lucky chappee.

She has the hip/thigh one too?

Villa's problem is that while Lerner has invested alot into the club, they haven't really generated anything from sales. The only players I remember being sold for more than a couple mil are Cahill (4M -- mistake) and Barry (12M). Contrast them to us, we've probably spent about the same but we also got 25-27M for Rooney, 10.5M for AJ, 6M for Faddy and 18M for lescott (after Wolves were paid). MON hasn't been able to find bargain buys/loans like Moyes has over the years. All of his players are in the 6-12M range and sometimes he hasn't spent it too wisely. He turned Barry into Downing, who pretty much has the same game as Young. When if he wanted a LW he could have bought Hunt (A LW with a completely different style) and had an extra 8M to bring in some depth.

Its a whole new way of working though aint it lads? I mean those days of your work being judged by how many hours you put in are long gone. It's input vs output time. I mean I get the impression with some folks that they just want us to blow cash willy nilly, that we'd somehow be a better club if Pienaar cost £10m, Arteta £15m, Jags £10m and so on. All that money on big stars, we'd have to be champs.

It's the same messed up model that politics operates by. People think that just blowing an extra few billion on health or education is automatically a good thing. History suggests that all splashing cash around does is increase inflation and causing Lescott to be valued at £24m. Much better for companies to fly under the radar and get more for their money. They're the ones that come out on top in the end. As many have suggested on here this season, Jonny or J-Lo? Remember one only cost 25% of the other. It aint some kind of linear process where spending money is an automatic elixir of success.

Spot on! (y)

I heard today from a friend who knows the O'Neill family, that Martin will be leaving Villa at the end of the season. Avram Grant has been approached to take over.

Someone told me the other day to put a few pound on MON being the Norway manager - i thought he was winding me up.

God help us if they get a decent manager.

I actually went into the bookies today and asked for a price for O'Neill to leave Villa at the end of the season. They said they wont take any money on it. I wonder if FSW leaves, would they go for O'Neill? Hmmmm

Fella who told me is married to someone in an ex [Poor language removed] players family - hes one of them though so thought he was on the wind up!
