Is right. Tempted to do a history degree but I don't see how it will help me in any way.

I know sod all about getting a history degree, but what I've learned from being at Uni is that if it's just the "knowledge" you want to gain, you can learn what you need to know on the internet without having to spend thousands of pounds.

Most of what I've learnt at Uni I could probably learn on YouTube. Nine grand a year to take some bloody exams....

Well, my mum's cousin (first cousin once removed? Dunno how those things work in English soz) once told me a very wise thing: the difference between graduating from a university and learning in your own ways is a piece of paper and loads of money given to institutions.

Well I have a massive interest in History and would like to further it, plus I think it'd be cool to have a Ba in it too.

I basically left school and joined the military, one of my regrets in life was not going to uni.

If a degree is going to help your career then go for it. Otherwise you can learn loads from books and online lectures, etc..

Never knew you were in the military.

Have you ever killed a taliban?

If you want to take a degree in history why not explore SOAS (School of Oriental and African Studies) in London. They offer a multitude of different countries' histories, encompassing different time periods.
I was offered a place there but couldn't afford to live there. Ended up going to University of East Anglia studying The Cathars, Anglo-Saxon England and the History of the Third Reich. Subjects which I knew about previously.
Whereas, for example, SOAS offers a BA in Tibetan. Not many people have achieved one of those :)
They also have less esoteric courses, but still unusual. One of my regrets was that I was unable to take up their offer. Here are their undergraduate courses :
